I. Objectives
At the end of 1 hour period, the students will be able to:
1. Identify simple past and past perfect tense;
2. Write sentences in past perfect tense with a correct verb;
3. Appreciate the importance of knowing the rules in past perfect tense.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation
The teacher will post direct
sentences under simple past tense
and the students will change it into
indirect speech.
2. Presentation
The teacher will present the topic.
3. Discussion
Past Perfect Tense – used to tell an
action that has been completed
before another past action. It also
tells an action that happened in the
distant past.
- Used the helping verb “had”
before a verb.
Example:
I had emailed the manuscripts
before you called.
- Use the helping verb “been”
after “had” when using the
verb “to be”.
Example:
His father had been nice in the
past.
4. Generalization
What is past perfect tense?
What helping verb do we usually
use in past perfect tense?
5. Application
The teacher will group the students
into 3. Each of them will be given
sentences to be change to past
perfect tense within 3 min.
6. Evaluation
Answer the Practice Exercises
letter A pages 267-268 on your
book.
IV. Agreement.
Memorize the poem “Like The
Molave” for the performance
task.
