Iterative methods are widely used to solve nonlinear ill-posed operator equations. The document considers a family of gradient type projection methods for solving a nonlinear operator equation between Hilbert spaces X and Y. Specifically, it proposes a family of modified minimal error methods defined by an iterative formula for approximating the solution to the nonlinear ill-posed operator equation where the Fréchet derivative only needs to be calculated at the initial point.

Iterative methods are widely used in literature to solve nonlinear ill-
posed operator equation. Here we consider family of gradient type projection
method for given nonlinear operator equation. Let X and Y be a Hilber spaces. Let F : D(F ) ⊆ X → Y be a nonlinear Fréchet differentiable mapping. We developed family of iterative methods for approximately solving the nonlinear ill-posed operator equation
F (x) = y. (1)
Precisely, we considered the following family of modified minimal error
method defined by,
xk+1 = xk − θk (1 − η)αk F 0 (x0 )∗ (F (xδk ) − y δ ) (2)
where x0 is the initial guess, for approximately solving (1) and
δ 2 αk = kF 0 (xkF0 )(x k )−y k ∗ (F (x )−y δ )k2 , 0 < η < 1, k θk ∈ (0, 1). The Fréchet derivative in (2) has to be calculated only at initial point. The convergence analysis of the proposed method is given when we have exact data y. The convergence analysis of the method with noisy data y δ is in process. The draft of work done is attached along with this report.
