AIM:
To Study on Implementation of Total Quality Management in Rural Technical Institution.
SCOPE:
Total Quality Management (TQM) is defined as the “Art of managing the whole to
achieve an excellence”. TQM is a participative management philosophy where in all the
stake holders had to participate throughout the effort. TQM is a continuous improvement
tool to satisfy internal and external customers and to survival of the organisation in the
competitive world.
According to the survey of many industrial sectors the benefits of TQM are seen in
quality, employee participation, team work, working relationship, customer and employee
satisfaction, profitability and market share. The strategic planning of implementing TQM
in industry and commerce can be replicated in the educational Institutions. Institution
success depends on the commitment of its stakeholders towards the organization and its
key processes.
The rural technical institutions are facing many challenges to run effectively as well as
efficiently to satisfy its both internal and external customers. The students and the
faculty’s survey are conducted to benchmark their attitude and behavior in implementing
of TQM in the Institution. Information from these surveys provides ideas for quality
improvement projects. Hence this project work involves a study of implementing TQM in
to the rural technical institutions.
Three rural technical institutions will be selected to conduct the survey with the structured
questionnaire to staff and students. Around 200 students and 75 staff sample size
considered to evaluate the mean and standard deviation for the variables responsible for
TQM in the institution. Percentages priorities of the variables will also be found out.

METHODOLOGY:
Data can be collected through structured questionnaires to gain feedback from both staff
and students of different technical institutions situated in rural areas. The information
gained from surveys can be cross-referenced with quantitative performance data on
successes, pass rates, employability of the students etc. The purpose is to overcome with
the present problems/challenges through the data analysis.
A secondary data are also collected by referring the case studies from journals, records,
articles and various means used by different authors who have carried out an extensive
study through reviewing the literatures in implementing TQM in technical institutions.
RESULTS EXPECTED:
To prepare a road map for a rural technical institution to increase their admissions,
infrastructures, branding and business etc. to achieve an excellence in the field of
education.
