The comparative with modifiers:

My house is a bit smaller than yours.


Rose’s trainers are a lot more expensive than Carol’s.
James is a bit lazier than Paul.
His aftershave is a lot nicer than mine.

A. Look at the picture and write


sentences using a lot / a bit + the
comparative:

Example: The old car is a lot slower than


the modern car.

1. (good) The good car is a bit difficult to


drive than the old car.
2. (short) The modern car is much more
short than the old car.
3. (noisy) The modern car is less noisy than
the old car.
4. (uncomfortable) The old car is more uncomfortable than the modern car.
5. (expensive) The modern car is a lot expensive than the old car.

B. Now write sentences about different things or people using comparatives.

Example: Shakira is a lot more famous than Paulina Rubio.
Paris is older than New York.
Chinese is much more difficult than English.
