1. Worms ate the leaves of the plants. The leaves turned yellow and later the plants died.

 Does it have a subject and a predicate?
 How many simple sentences are there?
 How are they joined?
 When is so and because used?
 What do call this kind of sentence?
Say:
 A compound sentence is made up of two independent clauses joined
by conjunctions.
 We can join two parts of a sentence using because and so.
 The expressions so and because are used to show cause- effect relationship.
 Cause is the reason why something happens.
 Effect is the result when something happens.
