Alexandrarogers Resume-Aug2020

Greetings,
I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. My dream was reaffirmed when I was 12 years-old
and welcomed a younger brother into our family. Although I am beginning my third year of
teaching professionally, my younger brother will be the first to tell you that I have been
“teachering” him for nearly 13 years – having him serve as a guinea pig for all of my lessons and
ideas. My love of learning and serving others has made teaching a natural fit for me. My time at
Michigan State University introduced me to the Holt community and that is where I began my
teaching career. I fell in love with the community, the families I served, the balanced school
calendar, and the students I have watched grow. As much as I have enjoyed my time in Holt, I
feel it is time to find a school closer to home.
I am forever grateful to have spent the last three years in Holt Public Schools where I have been
shaped into the educator I am today. My time in Holt began with my year-long internship through
Michigan State University. I was placed in a Kindergarten classroom in one of Holt’s Title 1 schools. I
worked with students who were labeled before they walked through our doors and had
reputations that were larger than they were. These students opened my eyes to so much more
than I ever experienced growing up in my small town. They also showed me that all it takes is one
person to truly believe in a child for them to succeed. For the past two years I have had the
absolute joy of teaching Kindergarten at another one of Holt’s elementary schools. My
kindergarten kiddos have challenged me and motivated me to become a more well-rounded
educator. Over the past two years I have introduced technology to our youngest learners,
initiated and coordinated student-led literacy programs as well as enrichment programs, and
have found innovative ways to keep the students engaged by bringing in community members for
key lessons.
If you’re looking to add an innovative, enthusiastic, and motivated elementary teacher to your
team, I am confident I have a lot to offer. I would love to have the opportunity to discuss the
experience, strengths, skills, and energy I could bring to your school. Please reach out to me via
email at Alexandra.rogers17@outlook.com or by phone at (734) 883-7090. Thanks so much for your
consideration, and I look forward to meeting with you.
Sincerely,
Alexandra
