According to breast cancer studies, 25 percent of woman in the world is diagnosed with

breast cancer. In the US alone 1 out of 8 women suffer from breast cancer. Those women
who have higher dense breast, have a high chance of having breast cancer.

How do doctors get to know if we have dense breast?

Dense breast tissue refers to the appearance of breast tissue on a mammogram. It's a normal
and common finding.

Breast tissue is composed of milk glands, milk ducts, dense breast tissues and fatty tissues
(non-dense breast tissues) while looking in the mammogram the dense breasts have more
dense tissue than fatty tissue. On a mammogram, the non-dense breast tissue appears dark
and transparent, if the amount of fatty tissue is less as compared to the dense tissue, then it
determines the dense breast. But if the number of fatty tissues is more? Then it means that the
breast is less dense.

Symptoms

The shape and size of the breast don’t determine the breast density. For EG; A women with a
firm breast have dense Breast. Breast density change over time. According to a study, the
dense breast can happen to the age of 19 but most of the women can suffer from the dense
breast at the age of 40. Women with the age of 70-80 have less chance of having dense
breast.

Therapies

Mammography: In mammography low rays of x-rays are being used to examine the breast
density. The small amount of ionizing radiation helps the radiologist to obtain images inside
the breast.

Ultrasound: Breast Ultrasound is another option we can use to find breast cancer. It uses
sound waves to find out the probable areas found on a mammogram.

Tomosynthesis

3D mammography is an FDA-approved advanced technology, that takes multiple images or

x-rays of breast tissue, to recreate a 3-dimensional picture of the breast. You may also hear it
called Breast Tomosynthesis. It provides a 3-D image of the breast, which helps doctors to
have a better picture of the breasts.

TyrerCuzick

TyrerCuzick refers to the tool assesses breast cancer on a woman's answer after a series of
questions asked. According to a study, this method is being accurate for at least 19 years.
Dense Breast Laws

Federal law now requires mammography facilities include breast density information in
reports sent to patients and their physicians.

The law specifies the FDA must develop standard reporting language and ensure
mammography reports and summaries include, at a minimum, the following three pieces of
information:
1. How breast density will point out cancer in the mammogram.
2. A qualitative judgement by the radiologist about the dense breast.
3. Reminder to individuals to talk to the providers if they have any doubt.

These are detailed information about dense breast, Its treatment, and laws everyone should
know about.
