NTTF Industries Limited with a rich 40+ years experience, has come a long-way in
the field of Tooling and Automotive Engineering with constant thrust towards
achieving progress in the spheres of Skill development, Organizational
development, Customer satisfaction and continuous improvements company wide.

During the year 2002, the key employees of NTTFIL have put a collaborative thought
about the company’s growth and evolved the “Vision statement” and “Values We Value”
for the Company.

MILESTONES
1959: First Training Center – NETTUR, KERALA STATE
1963: NTTF Formed.
1964: Started the First Production Center in VELLORE, T.N.
1994: NTTF Industries Limited – Public Limited Company formed.
1996: Won the ACMA AWARD for “Best Indigenous Technology Development” for Fuse &
Junction Box Assembly.
1998: Full-fledged CAD/CAM Center in Bangalore established. Full Service Supplier: From
“Concept to Product”.
1999: Signed JV with M/s.AISIN Seiki Co. Ltd., Japan.
2000: Implemented JIT system for Components supply and became the Kanban supplier to
M/s.TOYOTA Kirloskar Motors and its JV companies in India.
2004: Installed Large bed Higher tonnage SEYI Presses (250T/300T) in Bangalore and
Vellore Units.
2006: 300T/200T/160T SEYI Presses and 250T BMC Injection moulding M/c installed at
Bangalore. Certified ISO:TS16949:2002 from BVQI. MOU with Auto giant M/s.Methode
Electronics, USA.
2007: Latest MITSUBISHI/ EDMs/ WEDMs/ Super-drill/ CHEVALIER CNC Milling machines
installed at Bangalore and Vellore. ISO 14001/EOHS Programme kicked-off.

1a2. Developing and role modeling values, ethics and public responsibilities that
support the culture
NTTFIL management has worked to develop the self-motivated personnel in the key result
areas and those executives will represent the management in performing the departmental
objectives synchronizing with the Company level Objectives. This has been demonstrated by a
team of Managers who will act as the “Customer Representatives” (Key Account Manager) who
ensures smooth execution of Customer requirements and interfaces between Customer and
NTTFIL shop floor personnel.
Uniform dress code with NTTF emblem is mandate for all the employees. Wearing of Safety
Gadgets by the employees during the plant tour is observed. Common canteen facility
provided for all the employees.
NTTFIL acknowledges the inputs provided by customers and keeps the same confidential,
company wide. Necessary Non-Disclosure Agreement is signed with Customers to place it on
record. Also, NTTFIL does not use the knowledge gained during the execution of any order
against the interest of the customers who have provided such inputs or the information.
As a Social Commitment, NTTFIL has employed the physically challenged poor women in the
Assembly lines for the various stages of assembly operations. NTTFIL is on the march towards
ensuring the Green atmosphere in the Campus focusing on using non-hazardous materials in
all the input raw materials, growing more plants, Occupational safety and health initiatives,
etc.

1a3. Reviewing and improving the effectiveness of personnel leadership behaviors
Company has a proven practice for reviewing and improving the effectiveness of the
leadership behavious of the executives by way of Annual Performance Appraisal scheme.
Competence skill matrix being used to assess the current status of the manpower capabilities
and plans for the required training for the various levels of employees.
Leaders are encouraged for developing the second line team, which helps the company to get
stability in the workforce quality availability and flexiblity.
To keep abreast of the changing requirements of the industry, selected employees are deputed
for various training programs (short term or long-term) and seminars in India and abroad.
These employees will induce the knowledge gained to their peers and the subordinates. Some
of them will also take the leader’s role and will be assigned with various projects.

1a4. Being actively involved in improvement activities
The management demands the concerned Leaders to display the information departmental
objective measures and its constant improvements. The leader will ensure in the shop-floor
areas the visual display of the updated information like Recent Customer complaints
(displayed with the actual defective samples), mould readiness for loading, materials
availability and inventory status (Green/Yellow/Red channel items), progress of tooling
development (Gantt charts), no. of suggestions received, quality PPM levels, trend of warranty
failures, delivery performance.
Proper housekeeping practices are observed company wide. Continuous improvements
(Kaizens) activities are reviewed frequently and the employees generate more ideas for
further improvement. The management has established a comprehensive Suggestion scheme
and rewards people for good suggestions, which are implementable and cost advantageous to
the company.
Quality management system manuals and procedures are on the constant review and updation
by the respective leaders. NTTFIL has been certified ISO/TS16949:2002 from M/s.BVQI.

1a5. Stimulating and encouraging empowerment, creativity and innovation.e.g. by
changing the organization’s structure, funding learning and improvement activities
To respond to the urgent commercial demands of the customers, the ‘Technical Services
department’ was converted to MARKETING DEPARTMENT, employing full-time Marketing and
sales professionals. This team being the front line of the organization, understands the
customer’s requirements, and submits suitable techno-commercial offers and negotiates the
development and production orders.
As per the customer demand, the Marketing City office has been shifted to the plant to get the
first hand information of the status of development and to witness the infrastructure and
capabilities of NTTF.
Reorganising of the few departments - Design dept., Engg dept., R & D Dept.,were brought
under the common Head. Window person matrix announced by the top management to
smoothen the execution of customer orders. Separate “Computer Systems department” CSD
was formed to manage the hardware and software employed in the company. Latest software
like Oracle (ERP) and Preactor (Scheduling & loading) were installed to reduce the cycle time
for handling the orders.
The key personnel from Design, Tool room, Maintenance, Administration and other supporting
departments were sent for external training programs to premier institutions and Companies
both in India and abroad to get updated about the latest trends in the industry.

1a6. Encouraging, supporting and acting upon the findings of the learning
activities.
1a7. Prioritizing the improvement activities
The Department Head recognizes the skill and the potentials of the upcoming leaders and
supports and guides them for constant improvement on the learning activities.
Depending upon the commitments made to the customers, the priorities are identified and
targeted for completion. Catch up plans are also prepared in case of any deviations from the
planned dates and the same will be informed to customers.
Management promotes the various learning activities like – Good Housekeeping, One point
lesson, TGW – things Gone Wrong, TGR – Things Gone Right, Daily Work Management
principles, SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Dies), TPM – Total Predictive Maintenance, use of
latest software, Employee satisfaction survey, Self-appraisal schemes, etc.
NTTFIL management always has an eye for accomplishing and the latest developments and
demands in the Quality systems practices worldwide and initiates top-driven programs to
achieve the desired certifications. For example,
 NTTFIL was certified ISO 9001 & 9002 in the year 1995;
 Manuals and Procedures were restructured to the requirements of the QS 9000 system
during the year 2000;
 Obtained ISO/TS16949:2002 Certification from M/s.BVQI during Oct’ 2006
 Kicked off EOHS – Environment Occupational Health & Safety (ISO14001/18001)

1a8. Stimulating and encouraging collaboration with in the organization
NTTFIL management encourages the employees to participate in the various competitive skill
tests/ Quality Circle Competitions, etc. A team will be formed and will participate with the best
of the latest achievements implemented in the company and makes the presentation in the
competitions. NTTFIL toolmakers have stood one among the top three rankings in the national
level skill tests conducted annually.
To ensure the in depth awareness among the employees of the various development programs
in the company, the management has identified the team of self-motivated managers and
assigned important clauses to each person to contribute his and his team’s ideas in meeting
the set goals. These leaders would brainstorm and prepare the draft proposal for each clause
and submits to the attention of the management for fine-tuning.
To perform various events during the year, the management forms a committee separately for
each event and assigns the task of successful management of the event, which demonstrates
collaborative efforts. Ex: SAFETY COMMITTEE, 5S COMMITTEE, SUGGESTION COMMITTEE,
AYUDHA POOJA COMMITTEE, RAJYOTSAVA COMMITTEE, ETC.
