R SISTANCE
IEST REPORT
TYPE OF TEST : Long Term Chemical Resistance Test of GRP piBe in Deflected Condition
TESTING STD ASTM D 3681.
Date of Start 7l!7l2OL3 at 04:00 p,m.
Date Completion 1614l2oLs at 01:00 p.m.

This test method covers the chemical resistance properties of GRP pipe in a deflected condition.

It was observed that effects of chemical environment can be acselerated by strain induced by deflection.

This test performed by method 3 of D 3681 subjecting submerged GRP pipe ring specimens to various fb(
-
deflections induced by a constant load and monitoring the time to failure.

18 samples were tested for the diameter of 600 mm.

Test fluid utilizable for this testing was 1% normal H2SO4 solution in which pipe were submerged throughout
the testing.

The test temperatures are obtained by testing in a fluid environment where the temperature is controlled.

Test was performed on 600 mm Dlameter pipe manufactured through continuous winding process, where
width of each specimen is 300 mm.

For each sample after load application and fix the deflection initial strain calculated and than allow the pipe
to measure time to failure under constant foad.

Failure Points were noted by measuring time in the form of rupture.

Procedure B were followed by using three strain gauges on the inside bottonr surface of the pipe specirnen
in the circumferential direction to measure the initial circumferential strain,

- Initial strain level is calculated under specified deflection,

- Testing fluid maintain within +l- 5 % of the specified concentration during the test duration.

TES REPORT
TYPE OF TEST : LONG TERM RING BENDING STRAIN
TEST]NC STD ASTM D 5365
Date of Start A6/ttl2073 at 9:00 a.m.
Date Completion 2310512015 at t1:00 p,m.

- The long term ring bending strain varies for products, depending on the materials and type of construction
used irt the piPe wall.

- This test metfiod consists of subjecting subrnerged GRP pipe ring specimens to various Increasing deflections
induced by a constant load and monitoring the time to failure. A minimum of 18 samptes are required. The
test tempetatures are obtained by testing in a fluid environment where the temperature is controlled.

- The long term ring bending strain is obtained by an extrapolation to 50 years of a log-log llnear regresslon
line For failure strain versus time.

- LonB term Ring $ending test were carried out as per ASTM D 3565 for 600 rnm Diameter pipe manufactured
through continuous winding process.

- 23 specimens were tested under constant load to measure the deflection and associated strain,

- For each sample the increase in deflection versus time was recorded'

- Failure Points were noted at rupture of pipe wall which may be either liner or external due to creep effect.

PIPE DESTRUCfIVE TEST REPORT

Datq of testlns starteC v 07llll2013 at 7:00 p.m.

r28lLzl2o14 at 11:00 a.m.

Test ref. standard:- ISO 10468:2003

Scqpe:- This test specifies a method for determining long term specific ring creep

stiffness & wet creep factor for glass reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes

made with filament winding machine.

prlnciple:- A cut length of pipe supported horizontally is loaded throughout its length

to compress it diametrically to a prescribed level of strain calculated using the equation

e."ic,L = (4.28x e/d.x yi x 100) / (L +yo/ 2 x d* )z

The force application surfaces are bearing plates. The pipe is immersed in water at
given temperature for a period of time during which the force remains constant and

the vertical deflection is measured at intervals. The long-term specific ring creep
stiffness is estimated by extrapolation.

The wet creep factor is then determined from the long-term specific ring creep
stiffness and the initial specific ring stiffness of the same test piece. The declared wet

creep factor is the average of the results from two test pieces.

PIPE DESTRUCNVT TEST REPORT

Apparatuq:'

The machine shall comprise a system capable of applying a force without shock,
through two parallel force application surfaces conforming to allow the use of bearing
plates for loading the test piece, subject to reporting the choice used. The same loading

arrangement shall be used for the determination of both initial and long-term stiffness.

The surfaces shall be provided by a pair of plates, have a width of at least 100 mm and

a length at least equal to the length of the test piece. They shall be.sufficiently stiff so
that they do not visibly bend or otherwise deform during the test. Required a container
of large enough to accommodate test pieces in submerge condition.

Test Dlec€ Two test piece require with the length of 0.3 meter cut perpendicular to
the axis of the pipe & ends shall be smooth and sealed, 600 MM Diameter pipe with
pressure class of PNI 9 & Stiffness of 5N C - 248 Kpa is taken in consideration to
produce the PiPe test Piece.

procedure Determine and record the initial specific ring stiffness, Sq, of the each test

piece. Use the measured value of Se at a pair of reference lines, to be designated

position 1. to estimate the force required to compress the test piece to the necessary

deflection within 3 min to achieve.

place the test piece in the in the apparatus in contact with the upper and lower plate

with the pair of diametrically opposed reference lines designated position 1 vertically
aligned. Ensure that the contact between the test piece and each bearing plate is as

uniform as possible and the plates are not tilted laterally. Place the apparatus in the

water container. Fill the container with water so that piece is fully immersed.

When the test piece is fully immersed in the water and taking account, as
necessary,
of the mass of the upper plate, apply the vertical compressive force, F so that the
coffesponding vertical deflection is reached within 3 min and record the
actual force
applied and deflection achieved.

Hold the force constant throughout the duration of the test. Commencing at
not
more than t h after loading and continuing for more than 10,000 h, measure
and
record, to within 2% of the initial value, the deflection of the test piece at
approximately equal intervals of lg(time) after loading. The intervals shall be
such that
ten approximately equally spaced readings are taken for each decade of lg(time
in h)
Testing is performed as specified above in said document. Results of both
specimen is
mentioned to calculate the average value stiffness at 4,3g,000 hrs.
