GRADE XII CHEMISTRY WORKSHEET – CHEMICAL KINETICS

Date : 29/10/2018 Marks : 15

1. Define rate of a reaction.

2. Write units of rate constants for zero order and for the second order
reactions if the concentration is expressed in mol/L and time in
second.
3. The conversion of molecules X to Y follows second order kinetics. If
concentration of X is increased to three times how will it affect the
rate of formation of Y ?
4. Write two differences between order of reaction and molecularity of
reaction.
5. For a first order reaction, show that time required for 99% completion
is twice the time required for completion of 90% reaction .
6. For a reaction A + B → P, the rate is given by, Rate = k[A] [B]2.
i)How is the rate of reaction affected if the concentration of B is
doubled ?
ii) What is the overall order of reaction if A is present in large excess ?
iii) Explain the term “Pseudo first order reaction”.
7. The rate of most reactions becomes double when their temperature is
raised from 298 K to 308 K . Calculate their activation energy.
