winds, and heavy rainfall. During a
thunderstorm, air temperature, atmospheric
pressure, and humidity are low. A
thunderstorm usually occurs after a sunny
weather when air temperature is mostly high,
which accumulates water vapour in the air.
Thunderstorms last for a few hours and cover
only a small area.

Tornado is a violent rotating column of air

that extends from a thunderstorm cloud going
to the ground. This happens when warm air
masses meet and create instability in the
atmosphere. Wind speed of a tornado may
reach up to 450kph. It is usually short-lived
but leaves the most destruction in its path.
Tropical Cyclone is a rotating, organized
system of clouds and thunderstorms that
originates over tropical waters. It is
characterized by low atmospheric pressure,
high winds and heavy rain. Once a tropical
cyclone reaches maximum sustained winds of
119 kph, it is reclassified as a hurricane,
cyclone and typhoon, depending on where it
originates. In the Atlantic and North Pacific,
the term hurricane is used. When it occurs in
the South Pacific and Indian Ocean, it is
called cyclone. In the Northwest Pacific, it is
called a typhoon.

(Show pictures of a before and after a

weather disturbance through the PPT)

(Ask the pupils about how to avoid these

disastrous events)

(Present a video from PPT of how weather

disturbances are formed and its aftermath for
Application better understanding. )

Game: Pass the ball

Pass the ball as you sing ROW, ROW, ROW

YOUR BOAT. As the song stop, the pupil who
got the ball will pick out a statement from the
rolled papers and tell what kind of weather
disturbances is described.

1. Burias Island and some part of Aroroy,

Masbate is experiencing low atmospheric
pressure, high winds and heavy rain.
2. Villa Lucia, Mayngaran had experienced
lightning and thunder yesterday.
3. There is a rotating column of air that occurs
in some part of Mobo, Masbate.
4. Typhoon Nona had affected some parts of
Ticao Island that has the sustained winds of
120 Kph.
5. This short-lived violent air happens in
America which has a wind speed of up to 450
Kph
6. After a sunny weather in Masbate City, a
cumulonimbus clouds, bringing about gusty
winds, and heavy rainfall occurred.
Generalization
What are the three different weather
disturbances discussed? Explain how it
occurs.
Is it safe to go outside during a weather
disturbance?
Which province/place is most frequently
visited by typhoons?
How do you describe the weather condition
during the typhoon?
(The weather is so cold, with heavy rain,
thunder and lightning. )
Why do we need to know the weather
forecast everyday?
Does the weather affect our daily activities?
How can you avoid experiencing these?
Choose from the box the correct word that
