COURSEWORK ASSESSMENT

Coursework comprises TWO (2) components:

I. Individual Written Assignment- Essay (100 marks)

Essay Title:
More and more businesses as well as individuals are choosing to communicate either
professionally or socially using technology than being face to face. However, some people
fear face to face interaction will become a thing of the past at workplace. Discuss both
sides and give your opinion.

 The content of written assignment (essay) in MS Word includes:


 Introduction
 Body
 Conclusion

(a) The written assignment (essay) should be within 5 to 6 pages (excluding cover page,
acknowledgements, table of contents, bibliography and appendices). Ensure that the
softcopy is clear and legible. A penalty of 10% will be imposed on essay below or
exceeding the required number of pages.
(b) The written assignment (essay) should be neatly typed in Font 12 Times New Roman
with 2 lines spacing.
(c) All pages must be paginated consecutively using Arabic numerals (e.g. 1, 2, 3. etc.) at the
bottom centre of the page.
(d) Mode of Referencing: TARUC Harvard Referencing System.
(e) The matching on main text through antiplagiarism software (Turnitin) checking should not
exceed 15% threshold of match. A student has to redo assignment that exceeded the
threshold match.

II. Individual Infographic (100 marks)
 Summarise your above individual written assignment (essay) and turn it into a single-page
infographic (in MS Word).
 Infographics appeal to readers, they make the information easy to digest and interesting to
read (refer screenshots of infographic) especially for presentation to senior management
who are forever busy: :

 Present all information in a visual and concise way.


 Use only 2 to 5 different fonts, but be consistent between titles, headers, and text. Left
justify text (avoid centring).
 Stick to a colour scheme (2 to 5 colours) and use readable text/colours.
 Help connect ideas and sections. Make things stand out (insert related
pictures/graphs/charts), legible and direct reader through the display/ illustration and
narration.
 Attach Appendix 1A, 1B, 2, 3 and infographic into your coursework for submission.

General Guidelines:
(a) The standard layout of the whole coursework to be submitted (in a single MS Word file)
is as follow:-
(i) Cover page including (refer sample)
(ii) Assessment forms (Appendix 1A, 1B & 3)
(iii) Plagiarism statement (Appendix 2)
(iv) Turnitin report for written assignment (essay)
(v) Content (written assignment- essay & infographic)

magazines/ websites used as well as cited quotes (Minimum 3 references for written
assignment- essay).

(b) Date to receive marked coursework (result): Week 11.


(c) Deadline for submission of the coursework (in a single MS Word file) via BBDM1013
Google Classroom (and email a copy of the completed coursework to
bbdm1013cwk@gmail.com) is to be strictly adhered to. Save the coursework filename as
(Fullname_StudentId_Programme_Group1 e.g. jasontanhongtatt_2011089_rmk_group1).
(d) A penalty of the total marks granted to the coursework will be levied for each day of late
submission:
• Late 1 to 3 days after deadline of submission: minus 30 marks;
 Late 4 to 7 days after deadline of submission: minus 50 marks;
 Late more than 7 days after deadline of submission: 0 marks
(e) Weekends and public holidays are counted as one (1) day late.
(f) Plagiarism involves copying materials from other sources without acknowledging the
original author. The university treats plagiarism as a serious offense. Strict disciplinary
action will be taken against students, including failure of coursework or the course.
(g) Collusion can be deemed to be a form of plagiarism involves the unauthorised co-
operation between two or more people with deceptive intention.
(h) A 5 minute verbal presentation of Infographic via Google Meet effective Week 6 onwards.
