LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 10

Approach: Deductive Approach

Subject Matter: Daedalus and Icarus


Reflexive and Intensive Pronouns

Materials: Laptop, LED TV/LCD Projector, Handouts

Objectives: By the end of the session the students are expected to:
a. distinguish between reflexive and intensive pronoun;
b. integrate proper public speaking techniques during reporting;
and
c. manifest the value of obedience.

Procedure: A. Preparation
 Ask the students their familiarity with the story of The Little
Moth and The Lamp.
 Let the students recall the plot of the story. Afterwards, relate it
to the story of Daedalus and Icarus
B. Presentation
1. Reading/Discussion of Selection
 Let the students read the story silently.
 Facilitate the discussion of the story by giving a SGWA, with a
rubrics presented to the students, about the text read.
 During the presentation of each group, let the others evaluate
their performance.
2. Grammar Discussion
 After the activity, present the following facts from the text to the
class:
1. Daedalus himself made the labyrinth to imprison the
Minotaur.
2. Icarus brought death upon himself.
3. King Minos himself welcomed Daedalus in his kingdom.
4. Daedalus made two pairs of wings for himself and for his
son, Icarus.
5. The Minotaur was killed by Theseus himself.
 Let the students observe the structure of each sentence, paying
attention to the pronoun used.
 Then, proceed to the discussion of reflexive and intensive
pronouns.
 Refer back to the given sentences, let the students identify the
pronoun used in each sentence and determine its function to the
sentence.
 Let them identify the kind of pronoun used in the sentence and
let them explain their choice.
 Afterwards, explain when an intensive and a reflexive pronoun
should be used. Provide examples for further explanation.
C. Practice
 Let the students answer Activity 4 on page 90 of the textbook.
D. Purposeful Closure
 End the lesson by asking the question: “What important virtue
should we embody?”
 Also, let the students rate their understanding from 1-10 by
raising their hands. If there are students who rated it from 5-
below, ask what part did they not comprehend and elaborate it
next meeting.
