b) Name the gas that burned at X and explain why it is necessary to burn it.

b) Draw a graph of volume against temperature in 0C to demonstrate Charles’

c) (i) A fixed mass of a gas occupied 1.5 x 103 cm3 at 2770C and 5 atmospheres. At

10. a)Define the following terms; (2mks)

11. Calculate the number of Sulphate ions in 0.2M Sodium Sulphate.

c) In an experiment 3.10grams of a compound of Carbon, Hydrogen and Oxygen
produced 4.4 grams of Carbon (IV) Oxide and 2.7 grams of water on complete
combustion. Determine the empirical formula of the compound.

12. a) State Graham’s law of diffusion. (1mk)

b) 400cm3 of Nitrogen diffuses through a plug in 10 seconds. What time will take
300 cm3 of Sulphur (IV) Oxide to diffuse through the same plug under the
same conditions. (N=14, S=32, 0=16) (3mks)
