Primal fear:

The movie plot revolves around the brutal (In it's real sense, because it was truly
brutal) murder of a highly regarded Chicago priest, an altar boy (19 years) who is
caught as the suspect of murder, and a successful criminal lawyer who takes the
boy's case to save him. The plot looks simple but it has tremendous under
currents and one of them is the mental condition of the suspect. For almost half
the movie, the director is able to convince the viewer that the boy may be
innocent. But the finding that the boy himself has killed the priest because of his
multiple personality disorder shocks everyone , which turns out to be just acting
to get away with the murder. How amazingly Aaron(the suspect) fools the
lawyer(Martin vail) through his incredible acting of both characters aaron and roy.
There are many other movies which depict this multiple personality or split
personality disorder. Even Bollywood has made movies like bhoolbhalaiyan,
deewangee and

Certain scenes of this movie are brilliant especially the change in characters by
the boy in a split second. Richard Gere as the Lawyer(Martin Vail) has played his
part well. But the man who stole the show is Edward Norton(Aaron stampler)
who plays the mentally -ill boy charged with murder, as it was his debut so he did
well and nobody could believe by his innocent looks and stutter that he brutally
killed archbishop.

It is an engaging story because first you are busy in wondering whether the boy
killed the man or not then you came to know about his mental health later on in
the movie when on that basis when the boy’s death penalty stopped you at the
end came to a surprise twist that he was just acting but the lawyer couldn’t do
anything because the court agreed to stop his death penalty and send the boy to
the hospital for further treatment.

Multiple personality disorder does exist in the world but may be this disease has
taken up by many criminals in real life to get away with the evil deeds they have
done like they say we are guilty of doing this we didn’t do it we never wanted to
do it its just the demon inside of me that urged me to do it something took over
me………things like that they say to prove that they could not control their anger
or they were not in senses……in some cases its may be true and we can’t free a
criminal on sympathetic emotions.
