Biocides - ACTICIDE DСХ 30

Product Information
@
ACTICIDE DCX 30 is a broad-spectrum biocidal agent for anti-fouling marine paints and the protection of water-
based coatings and organo-diluted systems from algae and fungi.

Chemical and physical properties

Composition / active ingredients: 4,5-dichloro-2-n-octyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (DCOIT) in xylene
Appearance: amber-yellow liquid
Odor: characteristic
Content of DCOIT: 29.0 - 31%
Solubility: insoluble in water, soluble in most lower alcohols and glycols
0
Stability * in use: resistant to light, temperature effects up to 60 C and in media with a pH value of 3 to 9.

Biocidal properties
@
ACTICIDE D CX 30 has a broad spectrum of biocidal action and is particularly effective against many species that
cause surface fouling:
- Soft fouling organisms, including such algae as Entermorpha intestinalis and Ectocarpus siliculosis
- Solid fouling organisms, including crustaceans, such as Balanus amphitrite .

Fields of application and dosage

@
ACTICIDE DСХ 30 is recommended for the protection of moist surfaces and products where the growth of fungi
and algae is possible. Especially recommended for use in low-toxic marine paints, internal and external coatings and
similar products. To protect water products from bacterial and fungal infection when wet, THOR preservative
preservatives should be used.
The optimum concentrations depend on the required coating properties and the environmental effect in which the
coating is located. Typically, the product is added in an amount of 0.2 to 5.0%, depending on the nature of the system
and the client's goals. Precise determination of the optimal concentration can be carried out with the support of a
service microbiological laboratory.

Recycling / compatibility recommendations

@
ACTICIDE DСХ 30 can be added at any stage of the production process, but to ensure favorable conditions for
dispersion, it is recommended to add, when mixed into the mixture, as early as possible in the production cycle.
It is necessary to take into account the surrounding circumstances, which can have a significant effect on the stability
of active substances. These, in particular, are the temperature and pH values. Reagents such as ammonium, primary
and secondary amines and strong oxidation and reduction agents, such as hypochlorites, bisulfites, metabisulphites
and hydrogen sulfide, can also affect the stability of the product.
@
Compatibility problems ACTICIDE DСХ 30 in practice never arose. However, due to the variety of applications, we
recommend that you first check its compatibility with your system.
