“OPLAN PAILAW”

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Light is a very important element to our life. It serves as the way to see what is in
the dark areas. In the major cities like Metro Manila, it is very easy to do our daily task
even if it is in night time because we have 24/7 supply of electricity. But how the other
people that do not have a supply of electricity or those people who cannot afford to pay
for electricity did their tasks at dark areas especially those people in remote areas?
They need also a light that can help their daily routine to survive.
This project proposal will help their needs in terms of light in dark areas. It is very
easy to build and materials that will going to use is very cheap. For a single solar light
bottle, it can light a room with a standard measurement. For a single usage, it only
needs a 1 empty soda bottle preferably 1 litre, galvanized iron sheet, rubber sealant,
any kind of bleach and lastly, filtered water. For a single solar light bottle, it only cost
approximately 100 to 150 pesos only for materials. If this project will approve, it can help
a lot of people without supply of electricity and those people who cannot afford to pay
for electricity, especially those people in remote areas.

OBJECTIVES / GOALS OF THE PROJECT

The main objectives of this project proposal are to help those people without
supply of electricity to achieve bright surroundings in the dark areas and decrease the
usage of electricity that contributes in global warming. It is very easy to build because
some of materials that need to make it are can easily found in our home and other
materials are not so expensive to buy. It can build by a single person for only 1 hour of
continuous working.
DETAILS OF THE PROJECT
Somewhere in the province of Laguna, a non-government organization
introduced this kind of project to the people who cannot afford to pay electricity.
Somehow, their project successfully at first but for the reason of lacking in budget, it
turns to a few houses only receives this cheap light source. But in my project proposal, I
will ask for some help from the government and other investors to successfully continue
this project.
This is the process on how to make the solar light bottle:
1. Cut approximately 9 X 10 inches of GI sheet (corrugated or flat)
2. At the center of the GI sheet, draw 2 Circles
3. Cut the 1 cm difference radialy, making strips and bend upwards, perpendicular
to the GI sheet
4. Using sandpaper, scratch the surface around the upper third portion of the soda
bottle where the GI sheet will be placed, to allow the rubber sealant to stick
better.
5. Insert the empty bottle into the GI sheet until the upper third. Apply rubber
sealant on the strips above and around the area below. Wait to dry
6. Fill the empty soda bottle with filtered water and ~10 ML (2 Capfuls) of bleach.
Cover with Its original cap.
7. Cut a hole on the roof, similar to the bottle circumference
8. Place the solar light bottle into the hole. Make sure it is firmly in place
9. Drill 4 holes on each side of the solar light bottle using bosch lithium-ion cordless
drill and put in the rivets
10. Apply rubber sealant around all edges of the GI sheet of the solar light bottle to
avoid leakage. Make sure to cover the rivets
11. Place a protective plastic tube on the bottle cap and apply rubber sealant
