Scene 1: Sam & Molly

SAM
(looking around at their new loft) I gotta tell ya. This place
is really coming together. And the new piece, it’s amazing Moll.

MOLLY
Yeah. But it’s not finished. Don’t look at it. Don’t even talk
about it.

SAM
Are you kidding? It's beautiful.

MOLLY
I can't seem to get it right.

SAM
Will you stop it? It’s incredible. The whole place is
incredible. It’s got class.

MOLLY
Oh yeah, right down to that ugly poster of Barbarella. Sam, I
can’t believe you kept that.

SAM
What are you talking about? I love this poster. It’s vintage.

MOLLY
Babe, it doesn’t go with anything.

SAM
It goes with me.

MOLLY
Sam, sometimes you gotta let go.

SAM
Letting go’s not my thing.

MOLLY
All right, we’ll find somewhere for it. I know, how about the
closet?

SAM
Sure, and you know what can join it? That industrial
strength couch over there.
 MOLLY
You said you loved it.

SAM
Oh yeah no, I do. I mean, ever since I was a kid, I dreamed
owning a couch that looked like my Uncle’s work bench.
MOLLY
Sam, it’s a statement.

SAM
Oh yeah. Remind me. A statement of what?

MOLLY
That you have taste. That you’re willing to move beyond the
expected, the traditional, the everyday.

SAM
Wow, right. How could I have forgotten that?

MOLLY
(laughs) You’re an idiot.

Sam drifts away in his own thoughts for a moment

MOLLY (cont.)
Hey, what’s the matter?
SAM
The matter?

MOLLY
Yeah, I can tell.

SAM
Nothing…really.

MOLLY
You seem worried.

SAM
I don’t know; a lot of things. Everything’s just so perfect you
know? I don’t want the bubble to burst. Every time something
good happens to me, I’m just afraid I’m going to lose it.

MOLLY
You know what?
 SAM
What?

MOLLY
I love you. I really love you.

SAM
Ditto.

MOLLY
Sam.

SAM
What?

MOLLY
Why do you do that?
SAM
Do what?

MOLLY
Never mind.

SAM
Hey, what?

MOLLY
Nothing.

SAM
Oh, come on!

MOLLY
No, it's fine.

SAM
Molly.

MOLLY
