Tank units designed for use for

sampling, vent or drain.

Mainly used at hydrant pits (Airports).
Art. nr: PR-010111-0121 Version 041210
General info - Tank unit with Pressure relief and Equalizing function
DDCouplings® Tank units with pressure relief and equalizing
valve are designed for sampling, vent or drain.
Mainly used at hydrant pits (Airports).

The equalizing function:

Pressure differences in the system reduces by the piston
stroke forward or backward.

The pressure relief function:

This system dissipates trapped fluid pressure into Hose unit
(coupler) without spillage, to allow easy connection.
(see more detailed explanation below)

General info - Tank unit with Pressure relief

Function: When you start to connect the Hose unit
(coupler), the Hose unit piston moves forward and
pushes on the pressure relief valves piston (pos 1).
Now the pressure relief valves is open and the pres-
sure between the Tank unit and the Hose unit is
equalized. Then you have no problem to proceed
with the connection.

+ You will not have problems to connect the Hose

unit when there is fluid under high pressure in the
Tank unit or if there is incompressable fluid caught
between the valve and the Tank unit.

- You will get a small reduction in flowrate and a

small spillage.

Standards

All units in the DDCouplings® range are manufactured to accept the international standards:

Socket connection: NATO STANAG 3756, AUTOFINA SGM 2049.TUY.C.

Threads: BSP=ISO 228, NPT=B1.20.3

Applications (complete Hydrant valve, with Tank unit, Ballvalves and Flange)
The hydrant valve is used in airports, as follow;
Sampling - installed at a convenient point on a riser from the main hydrant line.
Venting - installed at a high point in the hydrant line.
Draining - installed at a low point in the hydrant line.

Operating procedure (complete Hydrant valve, with Tank unit, Ballvalves and Flange)
1. Ensure upper valve is closed.
2. Remove Dust Cap.
3. Connect 1½" Hose unit to the Tank unit. With exceptionally high pressure, after i.e. thermal
expansion, the overpressure equalizes after a few seconds when starting couplings.
After that, the coupling procedure can be continued.
IMPORTANT: The overpressure/medium is kept within the system
(with pressure relief valve the medium would be leaking).
4. Open upper valve.
5. Take required sample (or vent / drain).
6. Fully close upper valve.
7. Uncouple Hose unit.
8. Replace Dust Cap.

Note:
Only one operating handle is supplied for ball valves.
The lower valve is left open at all times unless the upper valve is to be removed for servicing.
Upper valve must be fully closed before operating.
