After 15 years, #Apple finally broke up with #Intel

#reasons

Apple hates being at the mercy of other companies. It could now release regular updates to Mac
like iPhone and iPad

Just like with the #iPhone, Mac could finally enjoy the benefits of being powered by a truly
optimized chipset which means no more thermal issues, no more processor throttling and better
performance

Using its own chipset, Apple can achieve better processing and graphics performance, while
actually lowering power consumption

The most important benefit of switching to #ARM is app compatibility. iPad and iPhone apps will
now run seamlessly on the #Mac

So, in the best-case scenario, a new ARM #MacBook could feature a fan-less design with a
smaller battery
This would enable Apple to create a thinner, lighter and quieter notebook

For many, this appears to be bad news for Intel

But

Intel sells Apple $3.4B worth of chips every year which is 2%-4% Intel’s sales. This number is
significant, but given the overall size of the Intel business, it is hardly insuperable

Without Apple, Intel can focus more attention on where its most significant growth is coming
from its broad data-centric strategy, which incorporates data center, network and IoT

What do you think

Will this break-up impact Intel in the long run?
