CHAPTER 2

METHODS AND PROCEDURES

This chapter presents the research design, sources of data, instrumental and

data collection, tools for data analysis and the ethical consideration.

Research Design

The design that will be used in this study is narrative and descriptive method.

Narrative, a qualitative research that narrates the life experiences of an individual told to

the researcher are from available material. These highlights the special events of the

subject.

Narrative research will focus on the types of stories told about the research

phenomenon and on the type of story in culture and society which presents the

phenomenon (Maaliskuuta, 2010). Several definitions or purposes of descriptive

research have been identified in the literature: (1) to describe systematically and

accurately the facts and characteristics of a given population or area of interest; (2) to

provide accurate portrayal or account of characteristics of a particular individual,

situation or group; these studies are a means of discovering new meaning, describing

what exists, determining the frequency with which something occurs and/or categorizing

information (Dulock, 1993).

Sources of Data

Locale and Population of Study

The respondents of the study are the school principals of the DepEd schools

situated in Pagadian City Division which is situated in Zamboanga del Sur.

Instrumentation and Data Collection

The researchers gather information about leadership from the school principals.

The tools that are used in the study are interviews, surveys and recorders. The main tool

of the study will be the interviews.

The interviewers will document or record the whole duration of the interview by

the use of voice or video recorders.

Tools for Data Analysis

The tools that are used data analysis are interviews and thematic codal ways.

Thematic analysis is one of a cluster of methods that focus in identifying patterned

meaning across dataset.

Ethical Consideration

To established and safeguard ethics in conducting the study. The researchers

will strictly observed the following:

The principals’ names will not be mentioned in any part of this research. It is only

after the approval or the school principal for his/her name will be stated in the study.

Researchers will insure that the respondents must tell the truth without making

biases in the study and participate wholeheartedly and not being forced.

The study conductors should give proper acknowledgement or credits for all

contributions to the study.

Both parties should be open to the expression of disapproval and new ideas.
