Creating a Lesson

Opening the Lesson Builder (2 options)

Option 1: From the Home Page


1. Click on the Create Lesson
Quick Feature on the Home
Page.
2. Lesson Builder will open and you
can begin
3. The Lesson Builder will open.

Option 2: From Resources


1. Click the Resources button on the global navigation bar.
2. Click the + New button at the top of the navigation pane.
3. Select Lesson. The Lesson Builder will open.
4. The Lesson Builder will open.

Renaming the Lesson


The new lesson is assigned the name “Untitled
Lesson”. It will retain that name unless you
change it. To keep your resources organized, it
is important to give your lesson a name.

Lesson Properties
If you are planning on sharing your lesson or making your lesson searchable in Resources,
filling in the Lesson Properties is important.

To change the ratio of your card:


In Lesson Builder select the ClassFlow Menu Button and then Card Size. The Card Size panel
opens.

You can choose from the following resolutions:


• Standard- 4:3
• Wide Screen- 16:9
• Wide Screen- 16:10
• Ultra-Wide Screen- 21:9

Choose the desired format and select Apply. The chosen format is applied to all existing
cards and any new cards that are added to the lesson.

Tip: When changing the card ratio of an existing lesson, remember to check each card to
make sure the content looks correct.

Note: If you are not sure which format to select, simply test different ones on your display to
see which looks the best.

Click the gear button on the card to see the drop-down menu.
• Change Background – allows the selection of a background
image; a resource pane opens on the right side of the window
• Duplicate – creates an exact copy of the card
• Hide – prevents the card from displaying during a presentation
• Anchor All – anchor all objects on the page so they do not move when the lesson is
being delivered
• Unanchor All - unanchor all objects on the page so they do move when the lesson is
being delivered
• Delete – deletes the card
• Card Notes – adds notes to the card
• Add Questions – opens the assessment builder to either add a question or to edit an
existing question.
• Add Card – adds another card to the stack
• Add Section – adds a section card for a change of topic
• Copy Card to Another Lesson – copies the selected card and places it in another
lesson stack
• Set Cover Card – chooses the card that will appear when searching for a lesson
At the bottom left side, there are two buttons. One is a button that adds a new card to
the stack and the other is a button that will show or hide student cards.
Add a Shape to a Card
1. Click the Shape tool in the tool bar. The tool bar expands with shape specific tools.

2. Click the Shape tool that appears with the expansion. A drop-down window appears
with a variety of shapes. Select the desired shape.

3. Use the Fill tool, the Outline tool, and the Line Type tool to set up the parameters for the
shape. To draw the shape, click and drag across the card; move slowly and pause for
the shape to show up.

4. Use the Transparency slider in the fill options and the outline options to affect the
amount of transparency for the shape.

Add Text to a Card


1. Select the Text tool in the tool bar and click on the card to open a text box. The tool
bar expands revealing additional text tools. Most are self-explanatory or familiar.

• Among the tools is an Edit Formula button and a Subscript and Superscript button
useful to science and math teachers.

2. To edit the text, click on the text. The handles


will appear.
a. Use the green handle above the text
box to rotate the text.
b. Click the gear to open a menu of other
tools. Use Actions to choose from a
variety of actions you can set for the
text.

Add Media to a Card


Images, video, web pages, and audio files can be inserted in cards.

1. Click the Insert button found on the left side of the lesson builder page.

2. The Select a file pane opens. Click the arrow next to My


Resources to select media from:
a. My Resources allows you to access any media you
have previously uploaded.
b. The ClassFlow Resource Pack contains media
stored in the ClassFlow cloud. There are also links to a
few specific internet resources.
c. You can also search Bing Images, YouTube Videos and
Bing Webpages to add media to your lesson.

• You can press the next to the image to preview it.

3. Upload New Resource – Resources saved to the local device can be uploaded for use.
Resources uploaded are saved in the ClassFlow Drive.

4. Once your media is selected click Insert in New Card/Insert – These buttons insert the
media on either a new card or the current card.

Add a Link to a Card

1. Click the Link button in the tool bar.

2. Enter a title, then enter the website link, make sure you start with http://www.

3. Check Display as Link if you want the website to display as a link on the card.

4. Select Add to Current Card to add the link.
