Assembly Step Procedures

STEP 1. “Assembly of the Entry Race Rods and Bushings”

A. Press the Left Bushing into the casting from the outside edge as shown. Bushing
should be flush with the casting surface. (Note, a C-Clamp can be used, align
bushing to the hole, and use the C-Clamp to press the bushing into the hole)
B. Press the Right Bushing into the casting from the outside edge as shown. Bushing
should be flush with the casting surface. Bushing should be flush with the casting
surface. (Note, a C-Clamp can be used, align bushing to the hole, and use the C-
Clamp to press the bushing into the hole)
C. Insert the left race rod into the base casting. (Note race rod should not extend past
the casting hole)
D. Apply Loctite 222 “Purple” to the Set Screw and tighten it until it makes light contact
with the race rod.
E. Torque the Set Screw to 5 Inch Pounds.
F. Insert the right race rod into the base casting.
G. Apply Loctite 222 “Purple” to the Set Screw and tighten it until it makes light contact
with the race rod.
H. Torque the Set Screw to 5 Inch Pounds.

STEP 2. “Assembly of the Servo Motor”

A. Place the Spring Lock Washers onto the Cap Screws, set aside for later use in the
step
B. Orientate the Servo Motor so the cables are at the bottom of the motor as shown.
C. Insert the motor into the base casting, and align the motor mounting holes with the
holes in the casting. Refer to Detail for holes to be used. (2 O’clock and 7’O Clock
Positions) Note, the wires may move from the bottom location, but should not move
beyond a location as shown.
D. Apply Loctite 222 “Purple” to the Cap Screw Assembly.
E. Insert the Cap Screws with the washers into the base casting.
F. Tighten each Cap Screw to a tight fit. (Approx 10 Inch Pounds of force)

STEP 3. “Assembly of Cover Stud”

A. Apply a thin coating of Loctite 406 “Clear” to ONE surface of the Gasket. (Spread
Loctite thinly over surface with a plastic knife. Note if contact with Loctite and skin,
clean skin with Nail polish remover.)
B. Align the Gasket so the hole pattern match’s the base casting hole pattern.
C. Apply Loctite 242 “Blue” to the Stud on the “Short Thread” end.
D. Insert the stud into the base casting, and tighten. Make sure the threads to do not
extend out of the casting hole. (Note, the use of two hex screw’s will aid in this
process)

STEP 4. “Assembly of Drive Assembly”

A. Locate the Thrust Block and O-Ring

B. Apply a thin coating of Loctite 406 “Clear” to one outer surface of the O-Ring. (Note if
contact with Loctite and skin, clean skin with Nail polish remover.)
C. Place the O-Ring with the Loctite surface on the Thrust Block as Shown. (Note,
center the O-Ring with the Thrust Block opening.) (O-Ring is placed on the opposite
side of the counter bore. “SMOOTH SIDE” of the Carrier Block) Set aside the
components while the Loctite dries.
D. Remove the Carrier Block Set Screw from the assembly, and keep to the side.
E. Hold the Carrier Block Exit in line with the bushing of the base casting as shown.
F. Apply a coating of Grease to the “INSDIE” of the left and right bushing. Grease
should cover the inner surface of the bearing walls
G. Insert the Race Rod thru the bushings, into the carrier block until the first notch on the
race rod is located under the Carrier block Set Screw hole.

H. Apply Loctite 222 “Purple” to the Set Screw from the Carrier Block.
I. Insert the Set Screw back into the carrier block thru the base casting hole.
J. Tighten the Carrier Block Set Screw to 10 Inch Pounds.
K. Slide the Race Way Back and out of the way
L. Remove the Thrust Block Set Screw and set aside.
M. Rotate the Ball Nut Screw, until it almost contacts the Base Casting.
N. Align the hole pattern of the Thrust Block with the Stud, Race Rod and Servo Motor.
O. Place the Thrust Block until the threaded portion of the threads on the Thrust Block
makes contact with the Ball Nut on the Servo Motor.
P. Using the Special Tool, thread the Ball Nut into the Thrust Block.
Q. Rotate the Ball Screw, until it is in the Mid-Stroke position.
R. Insert the race rod into the thrust block, and align the Carrier block’s position as
shown. NOTE, THE THRUST BLOCK’S SET SCREW MUCH MATCH UP TO THE
NOTCH ON THE RACE ROD. ADJUST THE BALL NUT POSITION BY TURNING
THE MOTOR SHAFT UNTIL THE NOTCH IS IN THE CORRECT POSITION AND
CHECK THE DIMENSION AS SHOWN. Note to align the assembly, place a hex
wrench into the base casting into the Carrier Block Hex Nut. Then adjust the servo
motor acme screw by turning it until the dimension is reached. Race Rod should be
approximately flush with the Carrier Block hole, and the Notch in the race rod should
be located in the Thrust Block’s set screw”
S.
T. Apply Loctite 222 “Purple” to the Thrust Block set screw
U. Insert the Set Screw into the Thrust Block and tighten to a Torque setting of 40 Inch
Pounds. (Verify that the screw will engage the
V. Apply Loctite 222 “Purple” to the Stud. (Loctite can be applied about 3/8 down on the
threads)

Cover.
C. Install the Nylon slotted set screw into the Servo Center Mounting Block.
D. Insert the Cap Screw into the Servo Mounting Block.
E. Locate the servo mounting block hole in the base casting and insert the Cap Screw
into the base casting. Tighten only finger tight until the proper location is reached as
shown.
F. Tighten the Servo Mounting Block Cap Screw to approx 10 Inch Pounds.
G. Install the O-Ring on the left entry race rod to the position as shown. Approximately
1/4 up the race rod.
H. Install the O-Ring on the right entry race rod to the position as shown. Approximatley
1/4 up the race rod.
