Specification for HDPE or Pvc Cover Block

• Cover block Should made of high density polyethylene (HDPE)& low density polyethylene (LDPE)
• Pvc cover block should be made of poly vinyl chloride
• Melting point of cover block should be in between 140 to 165 C

Tolerance for cover:

Unless Specified otherwise ,actual concrete cover should not deviate from the
required nominal cover by +1.0mm

Spacers, cover blocks should be made of concrete of same strength or PVC

Accurate reinforcement cover means right protection to the steel reinforcement
and less maintenance to building

Why we must use cover blocks?

When doing RCC work it is important to embed
the steel in the concrete (also known as cover) so that the
rebar doesn’t corrode and to provide fire protecon to the rebar

If we don’t provide the recommended cover the rebar

will corrode with me and will ulmately
result in premature failure of the structure

Thus using cover blocks enhances the life of the structure significantly without adding much to the cost.
