REFLECTIVE THINKING
Open mindedness
For a reflective thinker, having an open mindedness is important because they have to
question their assumptions and they need to be open for new perspective.
Whole heartedness
Responsibility
A reflective thinker needs to have a sense of responsibility because that way they can take the
responsibility of their experience and then think about it.
So from what I have learned and experience I will give two examples regarding reflective
thinking.
1st example
When I am in college I usually sleep late and that results in waking up late so I used to miss
the first lecture and the teacher would send me out and I have no choice but to sit in the
library and wait for the next lecture. So while sitting there, I think in my head that I will sleep
early and wake up early so that I will not miss the first lecture tomorrow.
2nd example
I am going through a bad time with someone important to me. So writing about my
experience gives me the opportunity to express my feelings and gives me a bigger picture
about my relationship with them, my happiness and what causes it. I learn some new
knowledge thinking about it. Writing about experience makes more sense of them.

Points to learn
1. Critical or reflective thinking is the starting point of inquiry into an incident or event
4. The solution shall be the best solution from that event or incident happening
Assignment 2
Explain the relevance of critical/reflective thinking in research. Give more relevant examples relevant
to legal field. (300 words)
Assignment 2
Critical/ reflective thinking is a very important quality that a person in legal field should possess
because it is connected with the field of law. A good researcher needs to possess critical thinking
because research is not just about collecting data and information on a said topic and then putting
them together but rather understanding the topic, asking questions and coming to a solution
through critical thinking. It always plays a great part in the sources you have chosen. A good research
paper should consist of new ideas, perspective and arguments and this can be achieved only through
critical thinking.
Example
When it comes to the field of law, critical thinking is collecting evidences or arguments and then
trying to evaluate the strength and weakness in an order. So if there is a debate about whether the
Uniform Civil code should be implemented. A critical thinker will spend time trying to point out the
3
main points present in it. Search for counter arguments and will give the most appropriate one. A
critical thinker will try to anticipate what counter arguments that the opposing party can come up
with and work on a solution.
