Name

End Zone!
Objective
To say the correct end marks for
different kinds of sentences

Players
Any number, divided into two teams

You will need

• Paper and pencils
• A playing field like the one pictured
• A game marker to use as the “football”

Before you play

• Each team makes a list of twenty sentences. Include four
statements, four questions, four commands, and four
exclamations.
• Each team chooses a quarterback. The quarterback will read the
sentences to the other team.

How to play
1. The quarterback for Team A places the “football” on the fifty-
yard line. Then the quarterback reads a sentence aloud.
2. Player 1 on Team B decides which end mark is correct for the
sentence—a period, a question mark, or an exclamation point. If

closer to its end zone.
3. The quarterback reads a sentence to Player 2 on Team B. Each
correct answer moves the football ahead ten yards until a
“touchdown” is scored. Then it is the other team’s turn.
4. If a player gives the wrong answer, it is a “fumble.” The football
goes to the other team.
5. Play for a set period of time or until all sentences are read.

Scoring
A team gets six points for each “touchdown.” The team with the
most points is the winner.
