Control panel

The control panel checkout procedure is designed to verify that a control panel is functioning
properly. The checkout can be used for initial testing or in conjunction with routine
maintenance schedules. Refer to the control drawings and checkout procedure included with
the Control Panel Instructions in this manual to insure proper adjustments and calibrations.

Intake filter

WHEN FILTER CARTRIDGE ELEMENT SHOULD BE CLEANING OR

REPLACED, THE COMPRESSOR MUST BE SHUTDOWN TO AVOID
POSSIBLE DAMAGE OR INJURY TO MAINTENACE PERSONNEL.

CAUTION

All filtration systems have a maximum recommended pressure drop at which the filter
element should be cleaned or replaced.
Because of the many types of atmospheric conditions that exist it is difficult to accurately
determine the life of a given filter element.
It is therefore advisable and highly recommended that a weekly pressure drop measurement
be recorded for stage filter element to determine the useful element life.
Filter maintenance is a necessary and important part of the entire air system. A properly
maintained inlet air filter will result in optimum air compressor operation.
An increase in filter differential pressure is an indication that the inlet air filter is performing
as intended. The following maximum pressure differential levels should be followed:

TOTAL DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE ACROSS FILTER OF 250 mm H2O: CLEAN OR REPLACE STAGE
ELEMENT.

When indicated by the above differential pressure data, the filter elements should be
removed for either cleaning or replacement.

DAMAGES MAY BE CAUSED BY:

- AN AIR FLOW INCREASE OVER 10% THAN THE RATED ONE
- EXCESSIVE BACK PRESSURE PULSATION IN CASE OF UNEVEN
RUNNING OF COMPRESSOR
- OPERATION OF FILTER WITH PRESSURE DROP VALUES HIGHER
CAUTION THAN THOSE INDICATED

SHOULD A SUDDEN DECREASE OF PRESSURE BE RECORDED OR
OBSERVED THE FILTER MUST BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY. LONGER
LIFE OF THE FILTER IS ACHIEVABLE BY PERIODIC CLEANING OF THE
INLET LOUVRE. THIS CAN EASILY BE DONE USING A VACUUM CLEANER
NOTE EQUIPPED WITH A FLAT SUCTION PIPE.

While replacing the elements, ensure there is no dirt around. Furthermore take care not to
damage the new filters as even a small breakage may be detrimental to the filtering
efficiency of the unit.

Instruction for filters replacement:

- Stop the air flow in the unit.

- Open the access door.
- Loosen fixing rods of absolute filters by rotating handle and remove filter.
- Place new elements respecting shown direction of flow.
- Fix elements by rotating the rods and take care to ensure a perfect air-tight fit between
elements and frame housing.
- Carefully clean the inside of the unit and close the door tightly.

Ensure the retaining rod handles are locked in position by the clips provided inside the
access door. To ensure correct performance of the filter check that:
- The air inlet louvre is cleaned.
- There is no external rusting.
- The gaskets of the access door and outlet flange are in good conditions.

DURING FILTERS REPLACEMENT, LOCK THE ACCESS DOOR, FOR

EXAMPLE WITH NEW FILTER CASING, TO AVOID SUDDEN WIND
STRIKES SHOULD CLOSE THE DOOR IN DANGEROUS WAY.

CAUTION

Inlet valve

Periodically stroke the inlet valve to aid in optimum performance of the compressor: SEE
INLET AND BYPASS VALVE ADJUSTMENT located in section 6.0 OPERATION of this manual for
guidelines on stroking the inlet valve.
