Westworld’s state of exception as a mean to build colonial geographies

It is an accepted assumption in geography that the colonization of space by state is key to


control population and build colonial subjectivities. Critical geographers have extensively argued that
alternatives construction of territories, beyond state, could be a way to decolonize space and build
new relations.

Taking Westworld oeuvre as a study case will lead us to discuss other mean of controlling space
and building oppressive territories, even when there no state.
