DESCRIBING CURRENT ACTIONS

A- Put the verbs into the proper Present Continuous form (affirmative, negative,
interrogative). Be attentive! Some verbs are not used in the Present Continuous
tense!

1. He is doing (do) the cleaning at the moment and he is singing (sing) a nice song.
2. Jack is not sleeping (not sleep) right now, because the nurse is giving (give) him the
medicine.
3. Is Linda playing (play) computer games at the moment? – No, she is chatting (chat) with her
friends.
4. Mr.Snow is being (be) at the psychiatrist’s. He is telling (tell) him about his problems at work.
5. Why is David painting (paint) the wall? – Because he doesn’t like the white color.
6. Who are your brother watching (watch)? – I don’t know. Maybe he is spying (spy) on his
girlfriend.
7. Why is the princess kissing (kiss) that terrible frog? – Because she xxxxx (want) it to turn into
a prince! Want is used as desire and is a verb wish these is a verbs are not used in the present continuous tense.
8. Which is bus waiting Bob (wait) for? – He is not waiting (not wait) for the bus, he is waiting
(wait) for his friend Kate.
9. The baby it being (be) quiet, it crying (cry) loudly. Jane is going (go) to the kitchen to fetch it
some milk.
10. Why is Steve keeping (keep) silent? – He is wanting (want) to try being less talkative at least for a
couple of minutes.
