On site harvesting
- Eliminates risk for spreading diseases by well boats

Today, farmed salmon is transported live in open well boat for harvesting,
representing a potential bio-security risk. The process boat solves this
problem by containing all processwater.

Tauranga Processing Wessel
- 4 times more fish

• Re-designed well boat

• 2 live fish tanks are converted into 6 RSW tanks, total 400 m3.
• Combining the newest technologies in pumping, stunning, bleeding,
chilling and hygiene.
• Full scale operation in 2009
• Now carrying 250 tons of salmon in each transport.
• Fuel consumption is reduced with 75 %
• Process and quality is well documentet by FHF/ Nofima.

Fish welfare important process parameter
- pre rigor time 25 hours

• Gentle crowding and pumping

• Stunning and bleeding of the fish directly from the farm
cage
• Chilling in a completely closed RSW system
• Containing all processwater. Treated at the processing
plant.
• Sea lice is filtered and contained.
• Pre-rigor time 25 hours -> Available transport time 15
hours.

Potentials for the Farming sector
• Removes the risk of “transporting” fish pathogens to other farms
• No discharge of water containing fish pathogens from well boats.
• No waiting cages
• Fuel consumption 25% of the consumption in live fish transports.
• Fish density is 4 times higher than what can be tolerated in live fish
transports.
• Customers appreciates unique fish welfare
• Reduction in total harvest cost
• More fish
• Can improve logistics and capacity utilisation.
• No transport loss
• High and low temperatures
• Algaes
• Weak fish
