NICE GUYS FINISH LAST 2

Nice Guys Finish Last

This essay caught me unguarded, I had no idea about the topic I was going to write about.

I just chose one randomly and got this one, “Nice Guys Finish Last.”

First, for me, nice guys not always finish last. Nice guys get people’s

sympathy, but when you are too nice, some people may take advantage of you. Also, just by

being nice to someone you could have made someone’s day happy. Like everything in life, being

nice have its good and its bad things.

For example, I remember when I lost a race trying to help my friend. This happened

when I was little, near my aunt’s house. Me and my friend, Lucas, were playing in my aunt’s

house and another kid said, “let’s race to the basketball court.” So we raced to the basketball

court and Lucas fell to the ground. He injured his ankle badly, but no other kid stopped, just me.

In that moment, two thoughts crossed my mind leaving him and still be able to win the race or

helping him and losing. I chose the right one, leaving him and winning the race. Just kidding, I

helped him and we both finished the race. Now, we are very good friends bonded by our

incredible past: laugh and suffering.

You may think, what an incredible story, but what is the point of

the story? I have no idea what it is supposed to mean. Just kidding, this is an example of how a

good intention made you literally finish last.

At the end, I put good intentions because, I don’t believe

there is a good guy. Because we sin every day, that doesn’t make us good but bad people. There

is no human living without sin but one: Jesus. He is the only one who is good. Unfortunately,

some people just because they donate to charity or because they help with animals (who are

sick), think they are good and don’t see the truth.

But sometimes good intentions make you get things you didn’t ask for.

We should always be helpful, but for instances we forget how to be good to

others. Sometimes our treatment to others depends on our mood such as happiness, sadness or

even when we have days that we don’t like to be bothered.

Some people use skin color or racism to determine how to treat people. Racists

think that all black people are thieves or murderers, which is sad, because I am black too. I don’t

want people to treat me differently just because I am different than them. God made us in our

unique way, and He loves us just the way we are.
