Play Performances 2020 Reflection

Right now, we are under attack COVID 19. This pandemic made everything become
unpredictable. All activities planned for this semester, including Play Performance 2020,
need to be rescheduled. Keeping involved in this situation isn't easy for any of us. There has
been a switch in strategy for this problem in the execution of our Play Performance 2020. So,
we need to think of other alternatives to keep handling this event during this COVID 19. We
decided to postpone the implementation of this event from May until November 2020, based
on the discussion. The things to be observed is whether or not the Driyarkara Auditorium is
free or not in November. We still don't know when this social distance would last but we all
hope that things will change in November so that we can still prepare everything.
According to workshop that has been shared by Ms. Herlina, there are 7 basics of
drama. The first is Line Ownership. Something to do with our brain. We need to
understanding the characters and owning the line. It means, we need to deepen and memorize
it by our heart. The second is Eye to eye communication. We can use our eye to express our
emotion. Basically, Eyes are the window of our soul and a bridge of feeling. If we pay
attention to other people's eyes then we can know how they feel without having to ask them.
The third is Diction. It is related with the clarity of speech in drama. the highlight in this
aspect is that articulation and mouth moving must be clear and viewable from any angle. The
fourth is Projection. It’s about how loud we do speech. Do not make a shrill voice. this will
make us tired quickly and make the audience less interested in our performance. The fifth is
Body control. Controlling our body or how we manage our body movement. Don't make
unnecessary movements even in a nervous condition. This can break the penton focus on our
performance, so they can't live up to our appearance. The sixth is Body movement and the
seventh is characterization. In characterization, we learned about being. Which means we
must understand what kind of character that we play, about how deep we understand the
character.
During this situation, each division can still prep a few small items that could be done
at home through the WhatsApp or Line group discussions. As a player, I and other players
still contact each other to organize through the WhatsApp group. Other than that, we also
help raise funds on our respective social media through paid promotion. We have more
chances to analyze and improve items that still need to be improved. Before this social
distancing, we did exercises for scenes 1 to scene 8 in Campus. We had a lot of practice to
enhance the physical and profound characterization. So, we just have to keep practicing the
next scene at home. We as a player has prepared to memorize the script during this social
distance, get to know the characters and get to own the line by individual practiced.
Hopefully it will all continue in August and everything will get better in that month.
Whatever challenges we have, but for this Play Performance 2020, I believe we can still
produce the best. The good thing about this pandemic that we should take is that we have
more time to make it great. Both hope and prayer will give us strength to overcome this
challenging time. Keep healthy, stay alive and remain at home.
