CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

Research Methodology is the systematic, theoretical analysis of methods applied

to a field of study. A methodology does not provide any solution instead it serve as a

guide to understand its content, using methods or best practices that can be applied to a

specific use.

Research Design

As the researchers aim to solve the problem about Budget Allocation of Grade

12 Senior High Student in Masbate National Comprehensive High School Annex

Campus, researchers also consider their topic not to be broad to find out the importance

of practicing the students on how to manage their money in their daily lives, aside from

that, this study is benefited for the participants merely. Descriptive study is the research

design based from the issue of the research, participant experience on how they manage

their relationship toward needs and their wants as a student. As well as this issue will use

the Context Analysis, since budget allocation of the student will be estimated the

approximately capacity on how they balance their expenses.

Sampling Method

In conducting interview to the respondents the researchers will use the Probability

Sampling. When it comes to gathering the researchers used the Cluster Random

Sampling. The study can be used when demonstrating a particular trait exist in the

population. This can help the researchers to get a respondents to gather the

questionnaires, will be asking the respondents if they are willing to answer the questions

of the researchers. Questionnaires that are answerable by yes or no and why, because the

answers of the respondents is confidential since it takes about money and the way of

spending or managing budget allowance practices. And through this, it will show the

average or precise estimation of a student, who can easily and difficult to balance their

money. Researchers chose cluster sampling to know the population of respondents to

answer the questions that provided by the researchers.

Population

Population is a large collection of individuals or objects that is the main focus of

the research where the researchers collects the data in research. All individuals or objects

within a certain population usually have a common, binding characteristic or trait. Using

Cluster Random Sampling a sample of 100 students was obtained. The population is

compose of 25-STEM, 25-ABM, 30-GAS and 20-TVL students of Masbate National

Comprehensive High School.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers put an effort and cooperation in developing their questionnaire

smo as to serve its intended respondents. The survey was created using suitable questions

modified from related research and individual questions formed by the researchers. In the

questionnaire, the researchers choose a close-ended questions as it gathered direct

information towards the research. The research study focused on how student manage

their allowance alongside with school expenses, even respondents focuses from their

study. The data gathered from this research instrument were computed for interpretation

according to the frequency of items checked by the participants. The research study also

focused on reconstructing and analyzing the factors and reasons that a participants stated

in the survey that was conducted by the researchers.

Research Instrument

The researcher chose a survey research design because it best served to answer

the questions and the purposes of the study. The survey research is one in which a group

of people or items is studied by collecting and analyzing data from only a few people or

items considered to be representative of the entire group. The accessibility of respondents

as well as the researchers on how to handle certain situation since it is confidential

because it talks about money. The researchers wants to help the respondents to cope up

regarding on how they handle their allowance. As the respondent experience unexpected

different finances. In other words, only a part of the population is studied, and findings

from this are expected to be generalized to the entire population (Nworgu 1991:68).

Similary, McBurney (1994:170) defines the survey assessing public opinion or individual

characteristics by the use of questionnaire and sampling methods, so that it will have an

impact and meaningful research. Researchers have same knowledge, same heart, one

purpose for this research.

Questionnaire Checklist

The researchers gathered information by having a through knowledge in

conducting a questionnaire. It clearly defines how necessary the data and information was

collected presented and analyzed in addressing the objectives and questions. The

questionnaires that will be given to the respondent was created by analyzing the whole

data of the research including the statement of the problem. By this the respondents can

be more enlighten their minds in the real purpose of this research. This can present them

the things that the respondents don't know much about like the reasons and justifications

for the research design, research instruments, data sources, data collection, data

presentation techniques and lastly the analytical technique, to measure the results.

questions is answerable by yes or no and any choices they can pick.
