U.S. Deputy Energy Secretary, PTTG,
Public Officials Hold "Community Meeting,"
But Don't Include Our Community

BRIDGEPORT, OH - Aug. 13th, 2020: The U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy visited Belmont County, OH to
tour the Dilles Bottom site of the proposed PTT ethane cracker plastics plant and meet with “state and local
officials and community members.” The event was publicized as a “roundtable discussion and listening
session.”

Community members including Concerned Ohio River Residents (CORR), a group of locals who have
consistently demonstrated public leadership in raising community members’ voices, perspectives, and
concerns about the proposed cracker plastics plant, made multiple attempts to contact the Deputy
Secretary’s office and attend this community meeting.

All of CORR’s efforts to participate in this community meeting went unanswered and CORR did not attend
the meeting.

Concerned Ohio River Residents (CORR), as local community members and very successful leaders
regarding the proposed PTTG ethane cracker plastics plant, are very disappointed that the
“community” focus of this meeting proved to be a mere public pretense, while representative
community voices were absent from this conversation.

CORR points out that while PTTG ignores us, more and more people continue joining our perspective that:
1) Expanded Ohio Valley petrochemical buildout - including cracker plastic plants - are a poor investment
with dim future outcomes or returns. And instead,
2) Resources need to be invested towards better, smarter, and more promising projects and development
with overall positive long-term outcomes and returns.

People and bodies joining this position include:

● Over 3,000 local signatories to our petitions,
● Over 60 local faith leaders and organizations,
● Economists and engineers, both local and national, from local universities and industry.
● Petrochemical industry leaders, including: Daelim, Braskem, and Chevron.
