Hello,

My name is Allan Fisher, and I am a graduate student, advocate, and aspiring teacher. I
believe a quality education is a basic human right and cornerstone to the process of
self-actualization. I can attest to the benefit that an education and teachers have
brought to my life. For this reason, I am drawn to the field of education and the teacher
identity.

This portfolio was designed for a grade 7-12 speech/public speaking course. I chose
this role because I hold a TExES Speech 7-12 Certificate. My previous experience in
public service and human rights advocacy compelled me to want to work with younger
students in hopes of creating a meaningful impact in their lives. Adolescence is a pivotal
stage in personal and academic development, and my goal is to empower students to
find their voice and leave the course as a better version of themself.

Included is the following:

1.) Cover letter;

2.) Resume to demonstrate my knowledge and experience in the discipline of
communication;
3.) Teaching Philosophy, to contextualize my approach to teaching.
4.) Course syllabus, to fit the 18 week, one semester schedule of a 7-12
speech/public speaking course;
5.) Lesson plans, designed for synchronous and asynchronous instruction to
facilitate learning in different modalities;
6.) Activities;
7.) Assignment;
8.) Quizzes; and
9.) Exam, to assess the students’ core learning.

The curriculum and assessments for this course are focused around the National
Communication Association integrated textbook Speak Up! An Illustrated Guide to
Public Speaking. Guest speakers and supplemental instruction videos have been
included to broaden the students' understanding of the course material.

Thank you for the privilege of your time. I welcome any inquiries, questions, comments,
and feedback and can be reached at allanfisherg@gmai.com.
