The forty-second day is thirty minus twenty-
nine through thirty minus one.

You may begin to teach him equations on the
seventieth day. By now you are a real pro,
and we wouldn't dare give you anything
except the barest facts. Again begin by telling
him you are going to teach him equations
and do so in the most excited and happy way.
In fact he already knows all two-step
equations because, after all, two plus three
equals five; seventy minus thirty-one equals
thirty-nine; eight multiplied by eight equals
sixty-four and seventy-five divided by
twenty-five equals three, are all equations.
We adults see them only symbolically as 2 +
3 = 5; 70 - 31 = 395 8 X 8 = 64 and 75 A 25 =
3. Your baby now not only knows math but,
what is more, actually understands what is
happening.
