to matrix problems, the student will have time to learn enough matlab so

that by the time matrix problems come around, they will be pro cient. The
more important reason, however, is that it is important to emphasize
the
notion of norm and of error. I found it better to work up in complexity, from
scalar, to vector, to matrix norms.
Please note that the algorithms given in these notes are not matlab
compatible
with regard to indices. Be careful, if you are new to matlab, to
adjust the
algorithms for indices that include non-positive values.

Emily Lane, and Ms. Rachel Labes; their input and their hard work
has
yielded a better set of notes. Whatever errors are still in the notes are all
my
