Features of BTS3900:
Based on the unified hardware pla orm, the BTS3900 supports three working modes: GSM mode,
GSM+UMTS dual mode, and UMTS mode through configura on of different so ware.In addi on,
the BTS3900 supports smooth evolu on to the Long-Term Evolu on (LTE).

RF parts and mee ng future requirements for a compact, high-efficiency, and low-cost base sta on.
Supports whole frequency band of PGSM 900 mhz, high 45mhz frequency band and low 45mhz
frequency band of DCS 1800 MHz, high 40 mhz frequency band and low 40 mhz frequency band of
1900 mhz.
High Capacity:
When the BTS3900 works in GSM mode, a BBU3900 supports the maximum cell configura on
of S24/24/24.When the BTS3900 works in GSM+UMTS dual mode, a BBU3900 supports
the maximum cell configura on of GSM S4/4/4 + UMTS S2/2/2 or GSM S5/5/5 + UMTS S1/1/1.
When the BTS3900 works in UMTS mode, a BBU3900 supports 24 cells, 1,536 ces in the uplink,
1,536 ces in the downlink, and the maximum configura on of 3 x 8.
Transmission Sharing:
Sharing the CPRI port. The CPRI data of the GSM and UMTS networks can be mul plexed on the
same op cal cable, which reduces the quan ty of CPRI ports.
Supports co-transmission between the GSM and the UMTS. Sharing transmission resources
between the Abis and the Iub interfaces.
Networking Capability:
The BTS3900 supports multiple network topologies, such as star, tree, chain, and ring topologies. LABELS
Supports Flex Abis networking.
3G Third generation (3)
When working in UMTS mode, the BTS3900 supports ATM and IP dual stack to protect operators'
early investment in ATM transport. 4G Fourth Generation (2)
Supports optimized transmission on the Abis interface. 5G Fifth Generation (12)

As the baseband processing unit, the BBU3900 provides ports for connec on between the dual
mode base sta on and the BSC/RNC and between the BBU3900 and the RF modules .
Provides CPRI ports for communica on between the BBU and the RF modules.
Provides USB ports, facilita ng the automa c so ware upgrade of the dual-mode base sta on

One MRFU does not serve two cells. Each cell with a single antenna can be configured
with a maximum of two MRFUs.
MRFU supports 1-way TX and 2-way RX.
Star, chain, and ring, are supported between the BBU and the MRFUs.
When star and chain topology is adopted between the BBU and MRFUs, the MRFU
supports 3 levels of cascading in a chain and thus the BBU supports a maximum of 18 (6
x 3) MRFUs.
Assign frequency:
If the frequency interval of a cell is outside the range of 15MHz, 2 MRFUs can be considered to be
used and the range of frequency for each MRFU also should be within15MHz.
Generally, it is suggested that the number of carriers should be set to 2 MRFUs averagely if 2
MRFUs are used in a cell. For example: S8 should be configured as 4+4 when 2 MRFUs are used.
S7 should be configured as 3+4 when 2 MRFUs are used. If there’s limita on of frequency band,
S8 also can be configured as 3+5 or 2+6.
Frequency hopping:
Cell without frequency hopping. The cell can work normally when the range of frequency is within 15MHz for
each MRFU.
Cell with Baseband frequency hopping. The frequency range of 2 MRFUs must within 25MHz when 2 MRFUs
are used. And the range of frequency also must be within 15MHz for each MRFU.
Cell with RF frequency hopping. The cell cannot adopt RF frequency hopping if the range of frequency is out
of 15MHz. Because the frequency range of 2 MRFUs must be within 15MHz when 2 MRFUs are used.
