Nowadays, the rapid development of the Internet has made way for the constantly growing

popularity of virtual learning. While some people believe that this method has various positive
influences and it will serve as an alternative to conventional classrooms, others think that traditional
brick-and-mortal school is irreplaceable. In my opinion, the pros of web-based class outweigh those
of traditional learning and this essay is to prove my point of view.

Online education has a large number of advantages. First, it gives us the freedom to design a
schedule that works best for ourselves. Unlike traditional school, in which we are stuck with the
same amout of time for each class and hectic morning routines that produce more stress than
anything else, online courses provide us with great flexibility and enable us to create a timetime
which is compatible with our own interests, abilities and needs. In addition, virtual learning is
extremely cost-efficient, especially to students with physical handicaps. We no longer have to take
public transport to get to campus or spend money on gas for our vehicles. For instance, me myself
live very far from school, so online studying is totally favorable. Another great thing about electronic
learning is that it reduces the environmental impacts that come from manufacturing and
transportation. At the latest count by University of West Georgia, for every student who did not
commute to school, carbon dioxide emissions were reduced by up to 10 tons every semester.

On the other hand, we also need to regconize the limitations of online school. Students may get
frustrated due to lack of face-to-face interaction. Sometimes, no matter how enriching the virtual
world is, it can become too small for students and they may need physical space where they can
communicate and do things with real tools. The solution to this weakness is to combine online
courses with some kinds of classroom training. It has been proven that this mixed-type of studying
reinforces what students have learnt and enhances the educational value of the training. This way,
we can overcome one of the most obvious limitations of e-learning. People are also concerned that
web-based classes have nothing significant to do with our soft skills. The thing here is that we study
at home doesn’t mean we have no time to go outside. Actually, online courses save us a great deal
of time and we can take advantage of it by participating in many extracurricular activities.

In conclusion, while there are still some certain limitations of online school, I would contend that the
given benefits will make it a worthwhile path.
