CHAPTER I

Background of the Study

Student had different styles nowadays specially the way they


dressed and the way they prevent their self in front of everyone. Proper haircut
was one of the rules being implemented to the students of Buug National High
School. Your school can tell you that your hair does not meet their written rules
and ask you to cut your hair, but your school can never physically cut your hair
without your permission or your parents permission. Nowadays, if you choose
not to follow the rule, then the school may be able to take steps to discipline you,
or otherwise some of the school teacher are given order to force haircut.

According to undersecretary Yolanda Quijano that the prescribe


haircut for boys was at least one inch above the ear and three inch above the
collar line. School under the supervision of DEpEd are required to follow such
standards. As a general practice school principal and administrators have the
authority to define their own sets of rules on how to implemented the policy,
including the enforcement of disciplinary actions to those student who did not
follow school rule.

As we observed some of the senior high school student are against to


the school rules and most of them were being reported to the reactions of senior
high school students toward proper haircut.

The aim of this study was to know the reaction of the senior high
school students toward proper haircut.

Research Questions.

1.What are the reaction of senior high school students toward proper
Haircut?
2.What are the purpose of proper haircut?

3.How proper haircut affects the learning of a student?


4.Base on the findings, what implication can be drawn from this
Study?

Scope and Delimitation

The main focus of this study was to know the reaction of senior high
school students towards proper haircut. This study was conducted at Buug
National High School which was located at Buug Zamboanga Sibugay during the
second semester of academic year 2019-2020 with the frame of December to
March.

The Buug National High School has a total population of students and
had two department the Junior High School and the Senior High School
Department. The Junior High Department the total population of students while
the senior high school department had students.

The Junior High was divided into four levels, Grade 7 to Grade 10.
Grade 7 had 8 sections namely; Sampaguita, Magnolia, Rose, Cattleya, Lily,
Orchid, Xenia and Marigold. It had a total population of 364 students. For grade-
8, there are 8 sections; namely Rizal, Aquino, Bonifacio, Mabini, Quizon, Jacinto,
Aquinaldo, and Del Pilar. It had a total population of 343 students namely; Gold,
Silver, Copper, Bronze, and Zinc. It had a total population of 229 students. For
grade 10, there are 4 section namely; Diamond Pearl, Ruby and Saphire, It has
the total population of 177 students while the senior high school was divided into
2 grade levels the Grade 11 and the Grade 12.The grade 11 offered two tracks,
the TVL and the academic track.

Academic track was divided into 3 strands; the General academic


strands (GAS) Accountancy and Bussiness Management (ABM) And
Humanities and social Science (HUMMS). It had a total population of 61
students. While the TVL Track was divided into 7 strands which include the
automotive servicing, Bread and Pastry production, Computer system,
Housekeeping servicing, SMAW, Dressmaking and EIM. This track had a total
population of 121 students. On other hand, the grade -12 they offered two track.
The Grade -12 academic track was divided into 3 strands which included GAS,
ABM, HUMMS, It had a total population of 69 students. The grade 12 TVL track
was divided into 4 strands which included the Automotive, SMAW, DM, CSS,
EIM, HK, and cookery. It had a total population of 173 students. And more over
the population of senior high school students were 364 students. However the
main respondents of this study were the senior high school students of Buug
National High School.

Beneficiaries of the Study

The Beneficiaries of this study were the students, teacher, parents,


community, administrator and future researchers.

Student- The first person who can benefits of this study, because they are the
one who follow the rules being implemented in the school.

Teacher- The person who will benefit this study, because they are the one who
guide and discipline the students.

Parents- The one that can benefits this study, to the aware how the students
actively participate in the community because of their ability.

Administrator-The person who can profit this study,it gives them acknowledge if
the student excel in the inside or outside the campus.

Future Reserch-also they can benefits this study,it will help them as a guide or it
can give them another references if they will make a research about the abilities
of the study.

Operational Definition of terms

Reaction- As it used to the study, refers to the action or a feeling of senior high
school students toward proper haircut and tattered jeans.

Senior High School Student- As it used to the study as a respondent.


BNHS- As it is used in the study, it refers to the place where the study.
