    Dear Jane,

    I was delighted to read (1) your letter last week. (2)It's always a pleasure to (3)receive
    the latest news and to (4)hear that you and your family had a great summer.

    We spent last week at the beach, and we had so much fun on the sand and in the
    water. We explored the coast (5), but (OR PERIOD) we weren't prepared for the rains
    that came at the end of the vacation. The best parts of the trip (6)were the
    opportunities to sightsee and relax.

    My kids are back in school (7)too. I find (8)there are (9)fewer things to worry about
    now that the kids are at school all day. There (10)are plenty of fun things to do in the
    summer, but by August, (11)I've run out of ideas. I've (12)accepted the fact that we'll
    have to think up brand-new activities next summer, (13)though; I'm hoping to round
    up some creative ideas soon.
