The Psychoanalytic Social Theory by Karen Horney was most appealing and realistic in my point of view.

Horney’s Ten Neurotic needs and Neurotic Trends is much applicable than any other theories in
characterizing the self in the Psychological view. The explanation about the Basic Hostility is commonly
seen among this generation and to which they applied their unsatisfied needs in their co-individuals. The
Basic Hostility basically characterizes every child among every family that is often left unattended due to
parent’s being busy from necessary things or favoritism among the group. In addition, the trends
mentioned in the discussion would likely to give way in answering the needs of an individual as well as
determining someone’s behavior and conditions whether something is unusual or abnormal on how
they interact with each other.

The Evolutionary Psychology by David Buss led to a quite misunderstanding between his point of view
and mine. His explanation regarding the artificial selection of behavior/traits/skills is quite impossible as
to traits and behaviors are not manipulated by the artificial evolution but it is the interaction of one to
its environment and growth (phenomenology). Furthermore, even if two individuals decided to
procreate, chances are not all offspring might actually inherit the traits they desired they wanted them
to have. Since it is sexual, the probability is 50-50 and might even results to none when two
Heterozygous individuals are the parents. Talking about personality and behavior, it is quite difficult to
transfer the traits so either the child will acquire it through the DNA or will be acquired when exposed to
such surrounding with the desired traits.

The Psycho-analytic Social Theory is the closest theory that describes my personality dynamics.
With the guidelines of determining whether a person is neurotic or not, I have concluded that I am still a
normal person. Horney’s Theory is actually a depiction of myself, achieving glory and approval of people
through different trends. Through the trend of Moving towards people, I am achieving the approval,
achievement, power and affection of people. Horney’s theory perfectly suits my ways on achieving these
needs. In some instances, when I want to achieve the needs mentioned above, either I will use the trend
moving against people for the reason of I like to compete myself with people who are known to be
great, or moving towards, but of course, limitations were the top priority of my tasks. Since I am running
as a candidate of Dean’s Lister, I have this goal to at least maintain or surpass my grades in the average
of 85. Psychoanalytic Social Theory tackles about the basic hostility connects with my unsatisfied need
as a child which is the affection and admiration, so here in my current situation, I am striving for these
needs in order to satisfy myself as a person.

This theory help me a lot to categorize my personality dynamics, as well as determining myself if
I am one of those people who needs to be attended medically or not.
