Dear Mrs. Doe:

Research has shown that moderate exercise indeed helps immune systems function properly.
Data also shows that the likelihood of hospitalization with a COVID-19 infection increases six-
fold when one is obese.
As you know COVID-19 has affected many industries. Fitness facilities are one of the industries
that have been shut down in many parts of the United States. We here at Self Esteem Brands
argue that gyms can remain open safely and reverse the mental and physical health toll this virus
is costing Americans.
As gyms have begun to open, we have implemented science backed policies and protocols that
follow social distancing guidelines and enhance cleaning and sanitation practices. We feel that
Americans and American leadership should know these facts.
With these new policies and protocols, over 60 of our industry leaders have come together to
write to the Governors of the United States, urging them to keep gyms open in the interest of the
health and wellbeing of Americans. The media can help us get this information out to our
leadership and public.
