CHAPTER 1

The problem and its background

INTRODUCTION

African Swine Fever (ASF) is a large double stranded DNA virus in the

Philippines. The disease was first described in Cavite. And why all off the province in Luzon

was affected. Like here in Calaca Batangas so many low farmers and big farmers was so affected

of that African swine fever. So many farmers are disappointed to that disease because they lost a

great deal of money because the pig weight went down. And it doesn’t sell much now because of

the disease. So many farmers today are wondering if they can find a pig buyer because its too

late to sell it.

A few months later now the pigs sale is not still ok because of the African swine

fever. And so many farmers are complaining because they are losing so much of money even

though Calaca town is not infected of that disease so the way that the government has to regain

the old pigs price because it has affected so much and lost so because their pigs are not selling

enough. But the people who just took it to earn a living if instead making a profit they will lose

even more. So the lifts need to be met in order to end this suffering and to revive the farmers

who have been devastated by the afore mentioned African swine fever and should help every one

who cares to raise our pig care again.

BACKGROUND

Veterinarian is immediately discover the African swine fever here in the

Philippines it is found in the province of calaca. This fever affected so many pigs here in calaca

the African swine fever was found here in the Philippines in year of 2019 in the province of

calaca. It why other province can be affected but all of the veterinarian do everything to get the

solution of the African swine fever to be solved. And to prevent this problem from affecting the

people of calaca. And the other government should do the same if this problem is resolved. Then

the Philippines also has to pay it can be resolved and invented medicine for our pigs. And it is

also necessary early on because many caregivers are affected by this disease. So that we can

recover from this illness so the way should be done because the low farmers are losing the

disease instead of making huge profit but so long as the higher ways are done.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

African swine fever is a highly contagious and deadly disease that affects

domestics and wild pigs regardless of age or sex. ASF cannot be spread to humans or other non

swine animal and live stocks and is not and is not a threat to human health. However humans can

carry the virus on their clothing shoes and equipment and can spread disease unknowingly. Why

should we pay attention to feed biosecurity. Dr Dee from pipestone veterinary services and

Kansas state university conducted a trans boundary study that demonstrated the survival of some

viruses in feed and feed material in 2018. The result showed that viruses including ASF survived

in a variety of feed material. Such as soybean meal lysine choline etc. therefore feed as a

possible intectious source safety is also an important part of biosecurity control system.

Disease in pigs By D.L. Hank Harris DVM, PhD, Department of Animal

Science, Department of Veterinary Diagnostics and Production Animal Medicine, Lava

University .Pigs of all ages are susceptible to intestinal diseases and diarhea is the sign common

to nearly all such disorders. Transmission of infectious agents that causes enteropathics is by the

fecal oral route. Atleast 16 different etiological agents including bacteria, viruses and parasites

can cause primary intestinal disease. Porcine circovirus type 2(PW2) virus maybe isolated from

the intestine of pigs with diarhea. PW2 is the cause of several multisystemic diseases in pigs

including post weaning m multisystemic wasting syndrome (see porcine circovirus disease)
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This research study serve to give information to the society about the bad effect

of the swine fever to our province whose have a farm of swine. This disease also bring a bad

effect to our farm so why all people are aware.
