DEMO TEACHING
LESSON PLAN IN GENERAL MATHEMATICS
(Function and their Graphs)

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Rewrite exponential form to logarithmic form and vice versa;
2. Solve logarithmic equations; and
3. Solve problems involving logarithmic equations.

II. SUBJECT MATTER: SOLVING LOGARITHMIC EQUATIONS

III. LESSON PROPER:

A. Preliminary Activities:
1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Setting of Classroom Standards

B. Motivation:

Ask the students to pick from the posted meta cards on the board containing
different expressions then let them to categorize it whether they belongs to exponential
form or logarithmic form.

C. Lesson Proper: (The 4A’s Approach)

1. ACTIVITIES:
Activity #1: Turn Me Into New One!
a. Group the students into 5 groups. There will be a leader and note taker of
each group.
b. Let the students rewrite the expressions (meta cards on the Motivation)
belongs to exponential form into logarithmic form and logarithmic form into
exponential form. Answer the following guide questions.
1. How did you rewrite exponential form into logarithmic form and vice
versa?
2. How did you come up with your answer? Is there any technique to be
considered in doing it?
c. Let the students present their output in the class.

Activity #2:

Find the value of the following logarithms:

a. log7 49 b. log5 √5 c. log6 1/6

d. log3 81 e. log10 100

a. Let the students present their output in the class.

Activity #3:

Solve the given equation for either x or b:

a. log6 x = 2 b. log27 x = 2/3

c. logb 4 = 1/3 d. logb 81 = -2

Guide Questions:
1. How did you get the x and b of each given equation?
2. Is there any technique to be considered in doing it?
a. Let the students present their output in the class.

2. ANALYSIS:
To determine the learning of the students; ask the following guide questions:
1. How to rewrite exponential form to logarithmic form and vice versa?
2. How to solve logarithmic equations?
3. Do the activity help you concretized your ideas in solving logarithmic
equations?

3. ABSTRACTION:
The students are expected to perform solving logarithmic equations
considering the following equations:

y = logb x if and only if x = by

blogb x = x and logb by = y

4. APPLICATION:
The students are expected to perform solving logarithmic equations.

Drill:
Solve the given equation for either x or b:

a. log1/4 x = -3 b. logb 27 = -3 c. log1/3 9 = x

d. log8 b = 1/3 e. logx 1 = 0

IV. EVALUATION:
Answer Exercise 5.3 off the book College Algebra and Trigonometry on page 268,
Nos. 9 – 16.

V. ASSIGNMENT:
Answer Exercise 5.3 off the book College Algebra and Trigonometry on page 268,
Nos. 17 – 21.
