The start of the decade has been miserable to the hospitality sector with the coronavirus
pandemic. Lifting all kinds of restrictions on movement of people to stop the spread, the
basic business model of facilitating individuals while they travel from a destination to another
has been adversely affected.
The paper specifically discusses Hotel Industries and their problems and challenges on the
current situation. The problems faced by them are listed below:
1. Decrease in profit
2. Lack of contingent planning
3. Change in their business/revenue model

Main Objective: To explore the impacts of Covid-19 in the Hospitality Sector a study based
on five star hotels of Kathmandu.

Specific Objective:
● To find out the impact of COVID -19 outbreak in Soltee, Hayat and Marriott hotel.
● To identify the measures taken by these three hotels to adapt to the pandemic.

Research Questions:
● What are the impacts of COVID-1?
● What are the adaptive measures taken to operate the hotels?
● What are the new contributors to the hotel’s revenue?
● What are some measures they have taken to survive in this situation?
● How important is contingent planning for Hotel Industries?
● How are they earning revenue if any?
● What is the way forward/plan ahead of the pandemic?
