Summary
Position: Marketing Intern
Hours: up to 10 hours per week
Pay rate: $15.60 / hour
Start date: August 31, 2020
Contract duration: August 31, 2020 – May 1, 2021
*Note: due to the ongoing global pandemic, hours for Fall 2020 will be completed
remotely. Decision for campus operations for Winter 2021 have not yet been finalized.
Description
The Principal’s Office and Faculty of Social and Community Services is looking for
creative and detail-oriented individual to produce entertaining and educational content
on our social media pages that caters to the interests of our target audience. This
individual will contribute to shaping our social media accounts, designing content
according to Humber guidelines, stay informed and up to date on social media and
marketing trends, increase our following on Instagram and Twitter, recommend
internal/external collaborations and suggest both user-generated initiatives as well as
engaging materials (print and videos).
Responsibilities
Writing, reviewing, editing, and updating content for social media
Developing social media calendars and programming posts weekly on all social
media platforms
Conducting research and interviews to learn more about current trends,
developments, and perceptions from current Humber students, and then
contextualizing your findings
Design posts and artwork using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
Using social media campaigns to engage followers, respond to questions or
complaints, and to promote organization initiatives
Collaborating with internal departments to establish new campaigns (e.g. Insta
takeover, giveaways, etc.), complete tasks, and identify and solve problems
Record and edit video content using Adobe Creative Suite or IMovie for social
media platforms
Monitoring social media metrics
Utilizing SEO methods to increase site traffic, would be an added bonus
Recommending paid promotions and target market
Suggesting new ways to promote to reach more persons, new engagement
initiatives and materials
Desired Skills and Experience
• Experience in English, Marketing, or a similar field.
• Experience creating strong, engaging content whether it is on a private or public
profile
• Efficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications
• Efficient in Adobe Creative Suite for design and video editing and other design
platforms like Canva
• An understanding of SEO best practices would be an asset
• Demonstrated excellence in writing, proofreading, and editing
• Outgoing personality for videos and content
• Excellent research, organizational, and time management skills
• Strong listening and communication skills
• Be comfortable in front of the camera for social media interactive or live videos to
interact with student population
• The capacity to work independently and collaboratively
• Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy
. Required Qualifications
Must be a currently registered Humber College student with a need to complete
placement hours;
Must be in good academic standing returning in the fall as a full-time student.
