Fall/Winter Paid Graphic Design Internship

Faculty of Social and Community Services and Principal’s Office Lakeshore

Summary

Position: Graphic Design Intern


Hours: up to 10 hours per week
Pay rate: $15.60 / hour
Start date: August 31, 2020
Contract duration: August 31, 2020 – May 1, 2021

*Note: due to the ongoing global pandemic, hours for Fall 2020 will be completed
remotely. Decision for campus operations for Winter 2021 have not yet been finalized.

Description

The Faculty of Social and Community Services and Principal’s Office is hiring a Graphic
Design Intern to provide support with creating original and creative content that supports
and promotes Work Integrated Learning initiatives and special projects.

Tasks performed under the direction of FSCS and Principal’s Office admin team may
include but are not limited to the following:

 Conceptualize and create engaging materials to promote special Faculty


initiatives;
 Design print and digital marketing materials, reports, and brochures;
 Ensure that all materials created – print or digital – meet AODA accessibility
requirements;
 Record and edit video content using Adobe Creative Suite or IMovie for social
media platforms
 Develop short animated presentations and participate in video projects

Additional Duties:

The Graphic Design Intern will be expected to collaborate regularly with the WIL and
Operations team contributing to team meetings and planning sessions. The intern may
also be involved in Faculty and campus wide initiatives at the request of the Dean,
Associate Deans, or other members of the admin team.

Desired Skills and Experience

 Strong graphic design skills;


 Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to cultural inclusion and accessibility;
 Experience with Adobe software editing programs (example: InDesign,
Photoshop, PremierePro, Illustrator);
 Strong aptitude for follow-through on assigned responsibilities and ability to
effectively manage multiple tasks;
 Excellent research, organizational, and time management skills;
 Highly collaborative and flexible multi-tasker with an enthusiastic communication
style (creative gif knowledge an asset);
 Willingness to think creatively to build community, especially through digital
means.

Required Qualifications

 Must be a currently registered Humber College student with a need to complete


placement hours;
 Must be in good academic standing returning in the fall as a full-time student.
 Must qualify for Work Study Funding
