EXPERIMENT No 1

Objective: To study the operation of Digital Multimeter

Apparatus:
Digital Multimeter, Resistors, Diodes, Power Supply, Function Generator
Procedure:
1. DC Measurements
To measure dc voltage put the function switch to DC, Range switch to auto and connect
the Digital Multimeter leads across the DC source DMM will show the DC supply on
LCD Display.
2 AC Measurements
By putting the function switch to AC and connecting the leads across AC source we can
measure AC voltages.
3 Current Measurements
We can measure both AC and DC current by putting function switch on mA, uA or on A
function and connecting the DMM in series with source. Also plug the red lead in
Ampere switch.
4 Resistance Measurement
By putting the function switch of DMM on OHM We can measure resistance of a resistor
Observations for Resistance

CODE D.M.M
1. 330kΩ±5% 330kΩ 326kΩ 4kΩ

2. 12kΩ±5% 12kΩ 11.9kΩ 0.1kΩ

3. 68kΩ±5% 68kΩ 64.9kΩ 3.1kΩ

Observations for Voltage Measurement
S NO POWER SUPPLY MULTIMETER DIFFERENCE IN

1. 12V 11.9V 0.1V
2. 15V 14.9V 0.1V

Conclusion:

There is a minor difference between the calculated value and the practically
recorded value. Multimeter is a very useful instrument that is highly precise and give
accurate reading to an extent.
