 PACT ANALYSIS
Pact analysis is a valuable tool for human oriented design thinking. PACT means
People, Activities, Contexts, and Technologies. In this analysis, we find our concept of
the app inside each category and summarize our thoughts on what the app would do. It
will be very beneficial for each and every aspect of this study to build an efficient
interactive framework that assists users in accessing the local map. People represent
cognitive with, and other things, physical characteristics, language, culture, etc.
Activities reflect behavior and activities like those promoting the new design.

PACT ANYLYSIS ON PATHAO

Introduction
Pathao is a mobile application that currently provides ride-sharing, parcel, food delivery
and On-demand Transport Sharing services in three cities of Bangladesh: Dhaka,
Chittagong, Sylhet, and in Kathmandu, Nepal. The Company offers transportation
providers, drivers and vehicle operators’ information, methods and platforms for
scheduling, obtaining and establishing contact with passengers or customers, but does
not and does not plan to provide transportation services or operate in any way as a taxi
operator, transportation carrier or service provider, and is not responsible for or liability
for any transportation services provided to Passengers or Customers. Pathao provides
on-demand ride-sharing services through motorcycles and cars. Both the driver and the
passenger is required to have an Android or iOS-based, internet and GPS-enabled,
smartphone to avail Pathao's service. Pathao uses a location-based system to match
the passenger with a driver nearby heading towards the destination.

People
There are two types of people who use the Pathao mobile application. They are Riders
and Customers.
Rider:
Rider must be at least 18 years old to be a part of Pathao, you must be an adult. You
must have a driving license to be a rider of Pathao, you must have a valid driver's
license. You must have bike registration documents to register your bike with Pathao,
you must have your bike's valid registration documents.
Costumer:
They are the people who want transportation facility to move from one place to other.
Physical Aspects
Age: Rider must be at least 18 years old to be a part of Pathao, you must be an adult.
Customer also need to be an adult with the age of 18 years or older to use Pathao
application.
Gender:
All the riders and customers of Pathao can be of any gender.
Height:
Average adult height for Riders is preferred and no height compulsions for Customers.
Physical ability: Riders and Customers should not have any special needs by the
means of speech, visual and mobility problems.
Psychological aspects
Customers of Pathao services are time and money conscious. Mainly students and job
holders of middle-class economic condition use Pathao bike ride services rather than
car ride services to reach their destination in time.
Social Differences
Customers and Riders both are from different backgrounds, social status. The common
language English is used for communication and other local languages are also
preferred accordingly.

Activity Analysis
The overall purpose of the application is to provide transportation services to the
Customers and provide earning platform for the people who have their car and bikes by
becoming the Captain or Rider.
Ride Sharing
Pathao provides on-demand ride-sharing services through motorcycles and cars. Both
the Rider and Customers are required to have an Android or iOS-based, internet and
GPS-enabled, smartphone to avail Pathao's service. Pathao uses a location-based
system to match the passenger with a driver nearby heading towards the destination. 
Parcel
Pathao Parcel is a service to send small to medium-sized packages inside Dhaka city
with a minimal cost using the Pathao app. The parcel delivery is usually done through
bicycles for nearby locations and motorcycles for longer distances. This service also
requires the delivery person and sender to both have GPS enabled smartphones to
match with a delivery person nearby.
eCommerce delivery
Merchant Delivery was the basis of the foundation of Pathao back in 2015. Pathao
delivers in 50+ cities in Bangladesh cities using their fleet of bicycle, motorcycle and
pickup vans. Pathao accepts cash-on-delivery and returns of products on behalf of its
merchants as well.
Food delivery
Pathao launched on-demand food delivery in Dhaka and Chittagong city on January
2018 using bicycle deliveries for avoiding the traffic. It directly competes with local and
international delivery companies. A report by the Daily Star claimed that Pathao Food
has 80% market share in the country.

Context Analysis
Inefficient GPS System or Mobile Network
The physical environment influences the use of the application. For example, in bad
weather, users might not be able to use the mobile phone due to bad signal. Since
Pathao application uses mobile network connection to connect the Rider and Customer,
it wouldn’t be able to update both Riders and Customers without the internet in bad
conditions.
Platform Compactivity
Pathao users heavily complained about Pathao not working on different platforms.
Customers have been constantly complaining on Pathao application not working on
Android 8.1, Walton X4 and Symphony.
Complex user interface
Many of the users complained that the Pathao application’s user interface is getting
complex with every update.
Change in Perception needed
Pathao application is used by different group of people from students to professional.
Many users have complained that Pathao Riders have drove ruthlessly and they didn’t
care about anyone else on the street.
Technology Analysis
Pathao Fulfillment delivery service provides logistics support to its customers by
connecting the online stores with their customers. Domestic E-commerce businesses
i.e., daraz.com.bd; ajkerdeal.com etc. uses Pathao Fulfillment services to deliver the
goods brought through their sites directly to the customer in person. The services
offered through this vertical of business include: cash-on-delivery (COD); reverse
logistics (which is a return to sender/origin support); 24-hour customer service.
Consumers benefit through the added convenience of goods being delivered to their
home, and businesses benefit by not having to borne huge delivery costs and offering
customers a value-added service. The app uses a mobile-friendly interface which
enables users to access the services on any platform: web, computer, mobile, and a 24-
hour customer service means that customers can have their problems sorted at any
hour of the day. Furthermore, given that the company uses motorbikes and bicycles for
most of their deliveries, they have the added advantage of being more environmentally
friendly than the competitors which somewhat reduces their carbon footprint and boosts
their brand image.

Conclusion
Pathao is a start-up that is constantly evolving and the team believes in embracing
dynamism which is etched into their business philosophy. The company’s founders
hope to expand their network to include the whole of Bangladesh and ensure that
everyone gets the opportunity to reap the benefits they provide. It is part of the
digitalization movement that has taken the world by storm. While the electronic realm in
Bangladesh is not on par with the globe, however it is growing rapidly. E-commerce is
the future of the economy, and Pathao will play an integral part in its technological
advancement. With the lack of competition in the motorcycle taxi service, high price of
other tech-based taxi services i.e., Uber and global criticisms of many of the
international services open up big opportunities for Pathao to
capitalize on in the long run.
